My Friend and I do this creative exercise I came up with and he suggested I post it on the Bay12 forums. Truman's Trials is based off this exercise.
You play a random nameless person. I start with a random setting. Example:
"You find yourself in an area of complete and utter blankness. Whiteness as far as you can see. You can't tell where the ground ends and the orizon begins. Your not even sure there is solid ground next to you. Just whiteness. You look to your left, you see nothing. You look to your right, you see an old run-down house. The house is two stories tall. It has an old-timey porch in the front. The front has one window on the ground floor and two on the second. On the porch there is a ricketty door."
The person currently controlling the character decides what to do. I then procceed to describe what happens to the player because of his actions. Example:
Me: [the previously stated location]
Player #1: "I'm going to aproach the house."
Me: "You approach the house. you are now standing in front of the porch stepps."
Player #1: "I'm going to walk up to the door."
Me: "you walk up to the door. As you approach you see a Welcome mat on the ground, along with a few rocking chairs scattered about the porch."
Player #1: "I'm going to open the door."
Me: "As you reach for the doorknob the Welcome mat rises up and wraps tightly around your head. You suffocate and Die."
After each player dies the next person wanting to play starts in the same situation. Example:
Me: [Previously stated location]
Player #2: "I'm going to approuch the house."
The new player must avoid what killed the last player. After they pass that they must then try to avoid death as long as possible. Each player must avoid everything that killed the previous players. The more creative you get the better. But please don't be stupid and say things like "do a trippy hippy dance". My job is to try and kill each player in a new creative way. If you want to play, PM me and I will create a wating list. (to be posted below) Well let's get started. I'm ging to use the setting I provided as an example because I do my best work with it."
