I'm fairly new to both DF (I'm still on my first fortress) and this forum, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to chime in.

I'm from the U.S, specifically Maine, and I'd have to agree that the U.S. is a lot more culturally diverse than the stereotypes. New England alone has big differences, Mainers are a completely different breed than people from Massachusetts, and people in Vermont.... are people in Vermont.

However, you can't really put specific lines on it. The map poster earlier is about the best you can do. At the same time, many Eurpopean countries have cultural borders that are different from national ones too..

Wow, that's erm...interesting. The baltic countries are considered as a part of North Europe? Since when?  :o [Not that it's so important, but it's kinda nonsensical imo. Just take a look at the map.]

Well Estonia should go with Finland for sure.  I'm not an expert on Latvia or Lithuania, but they certainly aren't slavic, which is at least part of the definition of eastern europe.

It's described as a "Modern" map of Europe (which mean "after cold war"). This explain why there's almost no country left in Eastern Europe.

And yes, Estonia and Finland are both "finnish" countries. And since the baltic countries are often seen as an unique block, if Estonia is in northern Europe, Lithuania and Latvia should be northern as well.
