Muddy Water

Does muddy water eventually clear out? I just started a fort, and decided to work the moat into the forts water supply. Unfortunately, all the water seems to be muddy in nature, and since dwarfs are unbelievably picky, they don't want to drink it. Will the mud wash out, or am I stuck with it?

Sure, water leaves mud everywhere, but as long as it's fresh, they should drink it. If, there's no booze available.

Are you in a saltwater biome, either by an ocean or near a saltwater marsh?

Have you zoned a water source from where you want them to drink from?

Just slap a well on and the dwarves won't care any more. Generally, you should avoid using any drinking supply that isn't booze or a well.

I put in grates for dwarf safety.

And I dont have the chains yet for a well.

You can use ropes for it too.

You can use ropes for it too.
Ropes are made from a clothier shop, by the way.
