My Multi-Leveled, Functioning Fortress

Well, on it's way: the craft industry and kitchens are yet to go into full speed, as well as the military and magma-based ones, but it's otherwise good to go: http://mkv25.net/dfma/browseby.php?fortressName=Lamkulet+Erith+Kokeb

I don't think anything is supposed to be special. Just someone happily posting the start of their fortress for others to see. A simple "HA! Goblins and Zombie Carp have not eaten all my slaves minions Dwarves yet!

Well, I'm just looking for advice on whether I'm going off the edge of a cliff (metaphorically speaking) without knowing. The fortress seems stable, but who knows what troubles will pop up with new nobles and the economy. I'm relatively new to fortress building, and this is my most long-term project as of present.

Which is what I assumed. The only thing I can see is your trap room entrance is good vs Ambushes, but wouldn't stop a siege if it came. Too small for that.  But I am sure you already know that and are working on it.

Only comment I have is are your 1x1 stairways going to create pathing slowdowns?

... How did I manage to notice single tile staircases yet completely not notice the 1 wide hallways... I feel depressed at that. But ya, Peewee has a good point. 1 wide hallway's are evil evil evil bad. 3 is a good number to go with, I usually use 3 or more on my major halls.

The first time you get immigrants, your FPS will drop to 12.

In what way? I placed them in close proximity to an area I designated as an animal pit, in case I wanted my dogs (and perhaps cats and muskoxen) elsewhere.

Update: http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-6185-lamkuleterithkokeb-ii

Well, I have expanded the entrance hall. It's got around 45 stone fall traps now, by my estimate. I've tried to resolve the single-tile-path/staircase thing a bit by having 3 staircases in some areas and building doors between warehouse rooms, where most movement takes place (I tell you, it was hilarious watching the zombie-like corridor-shuffle of the procession of dwarves removing stones from my new finished-goods room..

If the entrance hall is still too small, I have a plan to wall off the well-courtyard area completely, set up a new entrance further along to the right, and place wide corridors with a lot more stone traps. Maybe even a small maze.

Still not enough. Don't worry though, you'll figure that out all on your own, soon.
