Everybody will build his/hers new floor or they will use dark tower?

You can still reinforce level 0 (though I'd recommend against heavily reinforcing, since we want to make it possible to lose).

Also, yes, everybody will build their own floor.

So are we going to have a fancy central staircase?

Alright, I'll start this in a few hours when I get home.

Yeah, that would be cool.  Varying levels of ornateness as players hit better and better materials.

Also, I thought I answered this (though I don't see it posted anywhere), but I'm enforcing one-week turns.

What the hell?  I just got a kobold ambush.  In the 6 months I've played this game, that has never happened, and I'm fairly convinced those don't happen in DF Vanilla.  I run a lot of modded versions of DF on my machine, but I've checked over my raw files in this DF folder and there's nothing to suggest that this is anything but the normal version.  Do you guys want to continue, or do you want me to re-embark?

I've had them in vanilla, it just means that their thieves managed to make off with something really valuable while you weren't watching. (Somebody's giant cave spider silk sock, probably.)

Playing a cheesemaker in an average Fortress 'round here would be. Freaking. Terrifying.

I'd say continue, unless they killed a bunch of dwarves or something.

They only killed two.  I was moderately afraid of a tantrum spiral, but fortunately the unhappy dwarves resolved themselves.

Anyway, as kobold ambushes do happen and the fort was not destroyed, I'm posting my map, journal, and save.

Also, I declare my floor (the one with the brook) to be the open floor.  I also channelled out a few brook tiles (the tiles labelled as "brook"), but no sane person would have dug into that anyway, so I think it was a legal move.

Who said we were sane? Also what features does the site have?

Can we go up a level to build a roof? Or would that be intruding?

It just occured to me that we might want a water-pump tower so that everyone can do water projects.  Not necessarily big ones, but still water projects.

Yes, I am well aware of your fortress-ending talents.  Site features are: High elevation, Extreme Cliffs, River, Magma Pipe (sorry, no HFS)

Can we go up a level to build a roof? Or would that be intruding?

I'd say it would be intruding, which is why I didn't do it myself.
