1st Granite - Now that I have been elected mayor of Shukarurdim Shukarurdim Urdim, soon to be the greatest fortress in the world, I can begin my glorious vision of world conquest spreading peace to all dwarfkind. I will begin by raising this tower to the skies!

5th Granite - We have begun construction on a bridge. I'm not sure where it leads yet, but it will be the grandest bridge ever made by man or dwarf!

9th Granite - The elves have arrived. We seized their meager cargo at axepoint and they were soon on their way. I'm glad those elves understand their place in the world: to supply the dwarven industry with fuel for our forges!

28th Granite - The weaponsmith has gone insane. We had to put him down. A shame.

12th Slate - A detachment of labor from the mountainhomes has arrived. Excellent. They will be put to work immediately on the bridges.

10th Felsite - One of our stoneworkers was taken by a strange mood. This is bad. We need all the labor we can get for the bridge to nowhere! Unless... he decides to build a stone bed for my bedroom. A... GLORIOUS... stone bed... yes... that is what I need...

17th Felside - Ud damn it. I ordered him to make a bed, but instead he made an earring. I don't see how you could possibly get those two confused. You can't sleep in an earring! As punishment, I've sentenced him to a lifetime of hard labor building my bridge.

14th Hematite - The humans have arrived to trade. As their caravan was somewhat better defended than the elves, we deigned to offer them some of our exquisite craft goods. In exchange we recieved an anvil made of their poor human metals. It must be their idea of a joke. Tall creatures have such strange senses of humor.

17th Malachite - My bedroom is nearly complete. All that is needed is a roof. And not a moment too soon... My bridges are taking so long... so very long... I can't wait much longer...

9th Galena - Can't take it... need... bridge... need.... HAHAHA... BRIDGE HAHAHA!!!

20th Moonstone - goblins tried to steal a baby but dropped baby in river HAHAHA STUPID GOBLINS HAHAHA but baby drowned HAHA STUPID BABY..............baby......................bridges...................bridges?..................bridges.

Wow, I'm pretty sure you've made it difficult for DemonicSpoon to be any more crazy.  I'm going to suggest that everybody be designated to masonry.

They already were, I had to change that, also I'm digging down yes. And I'm going to be reasonably sane this turn.

Story:

After the downfall of the last fortress I supervised (after control was taken from my very capable hands I might add), I decided to move on, in search of that notorious nahkh, however I decided to first take a vacation in a more...normal fort. After arriving and accepting the cheers of the easily impressed masses, I saw the main problem of this fort, they didn't have nearly enough food! Realizing this, I began setting up plans for a vast farm and food processing area, located safely beneath the surface, hopefully this food area will become the breadbasket of the fortress. On a side note this will hopefully prevent the peons from resorting to cannibalism which would have the unfortunate consequence of me being eaten, what with being the perfect example of the dwarven body that I am.

Spring:

I arrived here shortly after the elves, realizing they could be a source of food and wonderful animals, I smiled and nodded at the hippies and gave them a huge profit margin, getting a few tonnes of low grade berries out of the bargain. A ambush also appeared but one of the woodcutters dealt with them no problem. Work has been started on project feed the peons. However it was a slow start at first. When I investigated it became clear to me that the previous rulers of this fort had no idea of specialization or any other proper job assignments, half the dwarves were busy busy building a bridge to nowhere! However, after I painstakingly gave them all new job assignments etc. things proceeded much more smoothly.

Summer:

Work on project 'Let them eat cake!' is proceeding nicely. Hopefully by the end of it the dwarves will be eating too many good quality roasts and crumpets to care about the atrocities I'm committing. Also the general overhaul and improvement of the entire fortress is going according to plan. More beds were made and put here and there. Further furniture was added to some of the existing bedrooms. The clerky jobs were all consilidated into the duties of one person.  My apartments were completed. Our personal area of the brook was enlarged, the begginings of a power plant was made. Everything was started to be smoothed over.  We now have larger fishing operations. This will hopefully be a last measure for food in case something happens to the breadbasket. We are ready to begin a large clothing industry. Mug production is going at full speed. Also the humans arrived, were given a profitable profit margin and sent on their way. After they left we got a siege that was driven off by our newly appointed hunter. Many doors were added all over the place. The begginings of a internal garbage dump was made.

Autumn:

The dwarven caravan has arrived, praised be the miners! We had so many trade goods we gave them a 10000 profit margin. Project Breadbasket is complete and a rousing success. I had to enlarge the processing area because the output was too large. Also, had another ambush, defeated by our champion squad. Deforestation continues apace. Our herbalist is rather skilled by now, I suggest that my successors continue to gather shrubs from outside. Not just because you can never have enough food, but also because if you don't eventually there will only be shrubs and no trees because of how plant density works. Butchering of most animals is complete, but I'm gonna leave the pet population for someone else to deal with.

Winter:

Nothing really exciting happened, a few thieves and nothing else.

A few migrants.
All three caravans arrived with no problems.
One goblin siege.
Two goblin ambushes.
Assorted thieves, both goblin and kobold.
Everyone dieing of a mysterious plague.

What I have done:

Streamlined, moved and enlarged the entire food industry.
Started smoothing the entire fortress.
Put in as many doors and hatchways as possible.
Made a small powerplant, can be easily enlarged.
Enlarged brook area under our control slightly.
Made apartments for the Dungeon Master.
Started a internal garbage dump.
Probaly a few more small things.

What needs doing:

Take care of the pet population.
Finish the garbage dump
Finish smoothing everything over and then engrave with the legendary engraver only.
Give the DM some artifact and masterwork furniture.
Make more bedrooms.
Make another dining area.
Make more food!!

Edit:  What?  A hunter repelled a goblin siege?  I thought they usually just shot a unicorn and died.  Obviously this dwarf must also be given artifact furniture.

I have no idea how he did it, I just went to look at the goblins and saw all of them running away, two crawling away, two corpses and my hunter standing there.

I think I'm going to message players on the first day they're available.  Most of them signed up before the rest, and will have waited much longer for their turns.
