That's it!  I can't deal with this job anymore!  That dungeon master went and ate my plans for the vault!  She said that she thought they were crepes.  Crepes!  Just what the hell are crepes, I ask you!?  At any rate, I can't continue the construction of the vault's mechanisms.  It's basically just a fancy stockpile for artifacts now.  So much for basement level -3.

At least I got some furnace operator to make some keys for the overseer.  It's strange, it's been a few days, but they're still warm . . . so I call them Hotkeys.  They help the overseer get around more quickly, basically, without allowing civilians to go where they shouldn't.  Say . . . these'd be great to have in the winter . . .

I'm giving up my position, by which I mean I'm finding someone even less intelligent than I am to dupe into taking my job and the Hotkeys.  Hey, here comes someone now . . .

Journal of 'Christes' Ekastdeler: Armorsmith turned miner turned leader of Talltower

1st of Limestone: It appears the the previous overseer of this Taron-forsaken fortress was unable to complete his full term.  Further, that dwarf has nominated me - ME - of all people to run this place.  Ah well, the worst that could happen is total collapse, right?

3rd of Limestone: After getting settled into my new position, I've found that I don't have much to do.  As per the rules of this place, I have to limit new digging and/or construction to one floor.  I have decided to dig downwards.  Further, seeing as this fortress is already more or less taking care of itself, my floor shall be a grand demonstration of our wealth and richness.

4th of Limestone: Today,I held a meeting with my fellow miners to plan out my floor.  They grumbled a little at the complexity of it all, but I assured them it would be worth the effort.

6th of Limestone: A peasant has given birth to a girl.  Oh frabjous day, another mouth to feed.

9th of Limestone: The town liason has arrived, along with a caravan.  Finally, a chance for us to unload our crap on some unsuspecting merchants.

15th of Limestone: Today, the mayor negotiated new trade deals with the mountainhomes.  They gave us a list of stuff they wanted, but we don't really pay attention to that since we have so much junk around anyway.  We requested various things, including metal bars and annoying products like cages.

17th of Limestone: A human diplomat arrived today.  That's right, come join the party!  It isn't complicated enough already with the merchants and all.

24th of Limestone: Finally, we traded.  I gave the merchants a huge profit margin.  Hopefully, they'll bring even more stuff next year.

30th of Limestone: That's it for my first month.  The digging is going smoothly, despite the numerous times miners have excitedly reported the striking of certain minerals.  The fey leatherworker continues to labor quietly.

Just a question: when does my turn end (in-game)?  Should I finish the previous turn and then take a year, or should I just take a year from when I started?

3rd of Timber: Kobold Thief spotted.  Otherwise all is quiet.

8th of Timber: Migrants have arrived.  They appear to think this place will be their tomb.  Whatever would give them that idea?

14th of Timber: I ordered the construction of some cage traps outside.  Prisoners will make my floor even more glorious.

23rd of Timber: The baron consort wants flasks.  I hate nobles.

15th of Moonstone: A vile Force of Darkness has arrived!  To the gates, soldiers!

16th of Moonstone: The goblins appear to be led by none other than Ozed Utesom, a local leader and a warrior of some repute.

18th of Moonstone: Aha! Ozed has become trapped in one of my well-placed cages, but his squad decided to charge forward anyway.  Their charge is interrupted by the entryway bridge being raised as they cross it, followed by a charge from the military that kills the goblins inside.  Litast Balalath is the hero of the day, single-handedly slaughtering the goblins inside.  The bridge is then lowered again and the dwarves meet the remaining goblins.  At the end of the day, Talltower gains many goblin bodies and 11 new prisoners.  I have a plan for those.

19th of Moonstone: The siege is broken.  The remaining squad of Goblins has run.
