He's come to save the day!
« on: June 23, 2009, 06:53:15 pm »

Remember Jib Jab?  Good To Be In D.C., 205, and so forth?  Well, they still exist.  Last week they finally debuted the new video, He's Barack Obama, and he's come to save the day.  It first showing was at the Radio and TV Correspondents Dinner in front of the man himself.

Is it glorification?  Satire of the President?  Satire of his supporters?  Well, it's catchy anyway, if no match for John Hodgman's nerd thesis.

I'm not sure if this is a blatant criticism, or blatant praise...

Mix of them both, really.

It's the hope of the people, with the phrase : He'd half the deficit, STOP UNEMPLYOMENT! MARKET DIVES! Fix health care in his spare time!

It's a criticism, with the : Bringing the money down to the borgeouis,HE'LL SPEND THE DOUGH, WRITE THE CHECK,  DISREGARD THE MOUNTING DEBT!

Well, something like that.

I thought it was all satire of the expectations people put on him.

Look at the comments....... People on youtube are incapable of having a political discussion without starting a flame war or fucking up the entire thing. :P

Compared to the rest of the internets, B12 is like the tome of infinite knowledge. And kitten killing.

Compared to rationality, we are that.

The internet is the opposite of the tome of infinite knowledge and kitten killing^2

To the power of 10 for Youtube specifically.

In general this forum just loves to bash people who may not be as "smart" as the average DF player. I remember reading a thread here about sharing trolling experience. Even Bay12 isn't as rational as some people might think.

Wow, hindsight eh? No, I don't think that thread was too bad (having made it, yeah, okay, um). I just think that maybe starting a trolling comp (which I blindly went along with) was a bad idea.

Its not so much smart, but the fact that we tend to try to find other ways to resolve problems and arguments without flaming and swearing like a sailing lumberjack.
