Most ridiculous/awesome/dwarfy Deities
« on: June 23, 2009, 05:06:10 pm »

So I'm about tyo start my third try at an underwater fortress, but thought it'd be fun to poke around in legends for a bit first. I found such an incredibly hilarious deity, that I just had to make this topic. Meet Dasėl, the (not so) dwarven god.

"Dasėl was a deity that occurs in the myths of The Twinkling Dagger. Dasėl was most often depicted as a male dwarf and was associated with rainbows."

Yup, that's right, these dwarves of "The Twinling Dagger" have a deity of rainbows. The same civ also has the same god for war, death, rebirth, creation, pregnancy and birth. This guys name was Eges, the Stormy Evisceration. He was depicted as a skeletal dwarf.

Post any great deities you've had in here!

Is there a way of getting a view of the deities in fortress mode without looking at every single dwarf's relationships?

That's like Armok, god of blood, life, death, and sadistic DF players...

Not directly, but you could save, copy your world folder, start up the copy, abandon the copy, and check out Legends.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

My favorite gods are the llama gods, of course (my game has llamas because they make me happy).   :D
I still haven't seen a dwarf who worships one, though...

I can't find the dwarf who worshiped this one, but it went something along the lines of "he is associated with dusk, war and fortresses."

Seemed oddly appropriate.

I had one who was a female dwarf and represented dutifulness, law, charity (some of these may not be accurate), courtesy and another thing or two.

Can you say Dwarven goddess of Chivalry? Since that's what the description resembled, the medieval concept of chivalry.

Edit: Here's one I've never seen before. This one lists various people (mainly humans) and goes on for a few pages, ending in the year 299.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

How do I safely do a savescum of the fortress as I want to check out the legends for this one.

"Mondūl Ashenlast the future of Mists"
-Most often depicted as a female dwarf and was associated with suicide and fate.

Jesus christ. Those two don't go well together ... "your fate ... is suicide!"

"Ishol"
-Associated with agrigaculture, fertility and food ... and torture and misery:-\

Working hard, eating well and breeding = Torture and misery.
Yep. Makes sense.

These are from the same civ. I'm making a fortress there now :D I am TOTALLY going to choose my future forts based on the local gods.

I interpret Ishol's system as as 'worship me and you'll have all the food you'll want and be amazingly fertile!... What's that? You don't believe me? TORTURE AND MISERY FOR YOU.'

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

Yes, I know this thread is two months old, but I don't feel like creating a new thread when this is just as good.

Also, minus the lack of magma the most dwarven god ever:
