In my current fort I have Vucar, a god of death and fortresses who most often appears as a skeletal dwarf. He is the most apt god for a fortress I've ever seen.

"Mondűl Ashenlast the future of Mists"
-Most often depicted as a female dwarf and was associated with suicide and fate.

Jesus christ. Those two don't go well together ... "your fate ... is suicide!"

"Ishol"
-Associated with agrigaculture, fertility and food ... and torture and misery:-\

Working hard, eating well and breeding = Torture and misery.
Yep. Makes sense.

These are from the same civ. I'm making a fortress there now :D I am TOTALLY going to choose my future forts based on the local gods.

I'm wondering what the myths for this guy were like.
"And so Ishol said unto his tormentor, 'Hark, for in the blood of gods grows many plump helmets. Even in victory you-- AHHHGHGGHGGGHH!'"

And that is why plump helmets grow so fast :P

How about a mussel god? I was like 'huh? a mussel god??' when I saw that. I guess it's a freshwater mussel as it represented lakes and stuff. I saw it in the legends when I was looking around but didn't check to see if it was a dwarven diety.

I also saw a bat god which took on the form of a rotting bat and was associated with what looked like at least 10 stuff, which is alot for one diety.

I also spotted an Ironman god (not Iron Man the comic hero, but as in the Iron Man golem type creatures in DF) in the same legends. I've never seen one of those Ironmen though.

Edit: Oh yea, I just remembered. In those legends, I spotted a human god who represented lust and depravity and is in the form of a male human. I forget the name, but it was something appropriate. I wouldn't be surprised if that one is actually a tentacle demon in disguse. I wasn't sure how the heck to imagine him as, maybe something like Bacchus on overdrive?

Was the human god called

by any chance? That - that would be a fitting yet unfortunate (terribly unfortunate) name.

Spoilered and translated for padding.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ten Gods. Two of which are male, one of which is a cardinal, one of which is a mountain goat. Both animals are also female.

This is one of the more interesting pantheons I've seen. Strangely enough, I got a King, not a Queen in a belief system that seems to focus on the females.

A quick scan of the stocks menu shows that one of the dead pack animals has a bin full of silk cloth!  It is speedily unforbidden, and my moody glassmaker sprints off to retrieve his prize amongst the smoking, charred, blood-soaked ruin that is the outdoors, totally oblivious to the carnage that was instigated on his behalf.

I was browsing Legends in preparation for the next DF Master's Competition when I found this.

Verily, I LOLed.

I'd have to do some searching, but one of my worldgens had a playable human civ that worshipped a god of truth.  Their neighboring human civ worshipped a god of lies.
The history, sadly, didn't have any notable interaction.

i like how none of the gods seem to have any sort of odd-one-out things they are in charge of. they all work together well

Of course! Divine Monarchy meets gender-skewed pantheon in a universe multiverse that enforces that yes, that means they can't all be paired up. (Nor tripled, etc.)

I interpret Ishol's system as as 'worship me and you'll have all the food you'll want and be amazingly fertile!... What's that? You don't believe me? TORTURE AND MISERY FOR YOU.'

I'm getting more of a Wickerman vibe from it.
