Video games aren't the best horror medium.
Why not? I can't remember any movie making me more scared and paranoid than Silent Hill (the game). For that matter, I can't remember one doing that at all.

Anyway, there's The Legacy - Realms of Terror, much of a dungeon crawler (a difficult one) with a horror theme.

There's Shadow of the Comet if someone likes Cthulu mythos.

Not really obscure at all, but there's the original Alone in the Dark trilogy.

There's also Blair Witch Project: Rustin Parr, which was actually pretty good (and difficult due to the worse-than-turret-movement controls).

Try Sanitarium... good game if you can get it to run.

I used to get really spooked by the original Alone in the Dark.

But those graphics just won't cut it anymore. Still, there are a few moments that might make you jumpy.

Yeah, Alone in the Dark didn't scare me, and the whole survival horror genre is only scary in how frighteningly primitive and clunky the controls are.  Even Resident Evil 4 made you feel like you were controlling a walking refrigerator.

Videogames break horror when the game mechanics interfear with the horror of the situation

a great example of this is Fatal Frame 1, 2, 3

The Battles in Fatal frame COULD have been much more scary if they allowed an option to hide the points and written cues. (You dispell ghosts with the Camera... but it tells you the number of points you earned after taking a picture)

Id list Fatal Frame / Project Zero series but it is hardly obscure.
