Dwarf Fish
« on: June 22, 2009, 06:56:13 pm »

Well my friend just lost his very first dwarf to Fun on his very first fortress. This dwarf was pulled into the river, not by water, not by carp, but by two tantruming dwarves.

If he was pulled that means the tantrummers were in the river. Did they drown too?

They are probably in shallow water (enough to not drown), but can't get out. At least that's what it seems like.

No, they are tantruming and swimming and they pulled a fisherdwarf into 7/7 water.

Its amazing how dwarves will learn to swim when they're of no furthur used to you, but not enough when they're needed.

I had a dwarf turn suicidal after a failed artifact making attempt - so he tossed himself in a pond.

Became a proficient swimmer before he starved to death.

I've lost a good 12 dwarfs to a recent waterfall project I've been working on, and I've found this to be very true. Every child who falls into 7/7 water? They swim around for fucking ever. Anybody trapped behind a pump? Michael Phelps. I'm prepared to sacrifice them and they just sit there leveling in swimming. What the hell?
