The Age of the Demon
« on: June 21, 2009, 11:07:38 pm »

I got a strange message while playing DF.  It says I've entered the age of the demon.  It's now year 1074 (this game was started in .38c).

I'm wondering if this will actually effect anything.

The elves have begun threatening me too.

This is clearly your cue to flood the world with magma over and over.

With [SLOW_LEARNER], dwarves probably don't sit around and talk anymore. They just stand in the same corner altogether, staring at each other, sticking their bearded lips out trying to make sounds. And giggling when someone actually says a whole word.

Is this while playing fortress mode? cool. As far as I can tell, the age of heroes tends to kast at least a thousand years, and with my fortress in the early 300s, it'll be a very long time.

...Out of curiosity, how many HFS have you opened up?

How large is this world? With some smaller worlds, I've seen Age of the Dwarf or Age of the Dragon. In your case, that probably isn't a good sign...

It just means that you have no megabeasts at all left in the Legend screen while the goblins still have a living demon around to worship. It usually comes up in Pocket or Small worlds; I've had The Age of the Demon as The Age of the Demon and Titan (as well as the Age of Tobor when I had a Bronze Colossus as the only big name standing; too bad Sam the Titan had competition left as I would have had The Age of Sam otherwise). Maybe even an Age of Titan and Demons too come to think of it.

I believe the age of demons also begins when a certain amount of demons are released into the world.

Screw that, it's your cue to flood it with molten adamantine and make anti demons out of screaming, burning elf corpses. Powered by cats, and animated by the souls of 1000 Moruls.
