Parallel Universes
Chapter one - The Meager
A new day dawned on the 7 remaining dwarves.
"Damned by Armok, your right Sakzul." -- Zan muttered
"The undead."
"What, that's impossible, look around us, the trees are fine!" -- Sakzul said
"It's not the trees that are undead..." --A distracted Fikod said, as the remains of a marmot shambled over a nearby outcrop of Rhyolite.
"The mountains be haunted!" -- Cried out Dakost -- "And the pit our friends fell into..."
"No doubt some eldritch horror ready to engulf them." -- whimpered Ezum
Sakzul reached into the cart and pulled out his pick-- "Well, I guess it's time to start."
Sakzul let out a tormented laugh.
-----
"Oi, Sakzul, what aboot o'er thar" -- Pointed Vabok --" E're be coal, Ir'n and chalk"
"Good eye Vabok!"-- The group cheered for the site, which looked like the one sane part of the mountain.
Sakzul, Fikod and Zan ran off to carve shelter into the majestic rock, while Ezum, Vabok, Fikod (referred to as Fike' to differentiate) and Dakost lugged the many casks of alcohol to the soon-to-be cave.
The lifeless homunculus of a goat stared down upon the group.
Of course, if it had eyes it would have attacked, but it had no clue that it actually WAS staring.
Looked fairly threatening though.
"Eh, Sakzul, what's this yellow ore I hit?" -- inquired Zan
"Limonite? Praise us! Soon the metal industry will take off!
"And the rooms are filled with Hematite and Adventurine!" -- Recalled Zan to Ezum
"Jeez, that's going ta look nice ,eh?"
...
"Do you see the..." --Started Ezum
"Yes Ezum, we all see the skeletons that can walk."-- Sakzul echoed for the last time "If it makes you feel safer we will build a defensive entrance, 'kay."
...
"HUAKJE HACK HOUK HOUSK"-- Managed Zan
"What happened, I heard a crash!" -- Ezum yelled while running
A large block of chalk was constricting Zan's airway.
"You mine from the inside out Zan, even planters know that!" Ezum chuckled.
...
Fikod was barrelling down a hill, pick readied to strike the soft, yielding coal.
"Fckshickkkk" Slammed the throat of the goat, in attempt of a war cry.
"Ach, No!" Fikod tried to get away from the construct, but it was too much for him
He dropped his pick, held out his fist, and let the goat ram his hand.
It smashed it's weak, fragile skull to bits on the meaty dwarf-palm.
"DAMMIT FIKE'" Yelled Sakzul
"oharmokoharmokoharmok" Quivered Fike' under his breath
"DID YOU ORDER COAL BLOCKS AND NOT COAL?"
"er...yes?"
Sakzul grabbed him by the pigtail shirt.
"You better not screw up again! We need all the advantages we can get out here!"
"Oi, Sakzul, why are tha op'shun for producin coal not comin up?"-- blurted Vabok
"We have unused charcoal, so it should show up, so I have no Idea."-- replied Sakzul
"HEAAAAA" -- Yelled Ezum at the skele-goats.
His axe crashed down on the ribcage of one, sending it into a murky pool, the other was sent flying, and broke apart in the air.
Skele-goats are no match for IRON.
...
"The flood machine will be ready on the morrow, so shut the floodgate." called Sakzul
"Aye, sir." replied Vabok
...
Well, It's autumn, and nothing killusdead has sprung up, So I am hoping for the best.
...
"Hey, Sakzul, look." said Fikod.
"What." replied Sakzul
"Goats."
"I KNOW AB-
"Meat goats"
"WHAT! GOATS MADE OF MEAT? HUZZAH!"
...
"FIKE'"Yelled Zan.
"yessir?" quivered Fike'
"Did you stop brewing our drinks for a good reason?"
"Well, I...I will get started RIGHT AWAY!"
"Damn straight."
...
Ezum, on another goat-smashing trip got his lower body gored pretty badly.
Bruised his spine, so he will never be a real warrior.
...
"Oi, Zan loo' o'er thar!" Vabok garbled
"Migrants? Here?" uttered a bewildered Zan
Migrants are
Sigun, leatherworker
Mistem, Peasant
Olin, Blacksmith
Dakost, Peasant
Bomrek, Cook
Geshud, Peasant
Nil, Child
Rigoth, Child
Fath, Dyer
Nil, Woodburner
Ingish, Furnace Operator
"G'day, I'm Sigun, and this group here is a sad cast of hobos and criminals sent down t'here to repent."
...
The peasants and Sigun engaged 5 goats in mortal combat.
They goat there asses handed to them, Ezum had to bail them out, axe first.
Only mistem will ever be fit to spar again
Sigun got stomped to death by goats just as the miners ran in to save him.
Darn, I was planning on him being important.
...
"Eh, Likost, y'ou see Zan and Fikod are an it'm now?" Uttered Vabok
"Being a miner can be lonely sometimes."
...
As the first year came to a close, the miners dropped from 3 to 1.
Sakzul became a book-keeper after his pick was lost.
Fikod Started martial training with mistem.
Zan kept up the mining.
The goat NEVER STOP COMING WHAT THE HELL.
Tried to keep it in the same style as the first post.
