Let's just face it that few people from B12 will fall into the category. $20 says the "common folk" would have an imminent head implosion upon encounter with DF.

Blarg.  I wasn't calling you stupid either Myroc.  I'm talking about "common folk".
I don't think most "common folk" is stupid. (Have you ever met someone truly stupid? They exist, but are quite rare.) Most of them just have different priorities than the "high-IQ folk" and "nerd/geek folk". And I still haven't figured out why that should be bad.

1. They make excellent "Jaywalking'' targets
I don't jaywalk when there's cars around.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the segment on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno known as "Jaywalking," where he would go out onto the streets and ask random people relatively simple questions, but the people usually give a completely wrong answer to these "simple" questions.

I think one thing the internet has affected is learning through consequences. Like when I was little and you're in a group of mixed ages, you can't brag and shoot your mouth off or else someone older and bigger is going to kick your ass. It teaches tact and self restraint in some ways (basic awareness of those around you). You hear some little kids on ventrillo or in public acting like total shits now; before they couldn't get away with that.

Same goes with being punished by adults. Yeah it sucks when you're small but at least it teaches you to be aware of how your behavior affects other people. On the internet you can be as much of a douchebag as you want and there's no real consequences, and I think that has a bad affect on kids growing up.

I agree with the shitty media and stuff. It's always been there but not in the sheer volume and accessibility that you have now. I think it's ironic that the book was featured on CNN and CBS News. The mainstream media is one of the big culprits in making society dumber as a whole in my opinion.

I find it kinda sad that I actually thought about world politics and NK's nuclear threat when I was twelve.

That was the year they did their first underground test.

We had a surprise little test on the last day of school in civics.  It was questions about where we lived.  Needless to say most didn't pass.

1. What planet are you on?

2. What continent do you live on?

3. What state do you live in?  (sorry spazzy non-american folk, just the spazzy ones though)

4. What district do you live in?

5. What city/town do you live in?

6. What school system are you in?

7. What's the closet ocean from here?

8. What's the closet river from here?

9. What's the closet foreign country?

ETC.

It was quite hilarious actually, the teacher had a ball as they would say.

Is our generation the dumbest? I dunno, it would have to be a tie between us and our previous generation. They made the damn 70-80's. But for the sake of my next point, I'll say we are the victor in this one.

If so, the last generation gets the award of 'laziest generation.' Do your goddam jobs and raise us right!

In my junior year of high school I was taking a US History class. We were talking about how there is North and South American continent and then there is the country America. There was this chick that was so dumb it had me baffled for the rest of the year how clueless she was. She asked "Which America do we live in, North or South?" The teacher had the goofiest reaction to that and all the kids were chuckling trying to keep from laughing too loud. Let's just say she didn't do to well in the class.

What about the lady that was on "Are you smarter than a fifth grader?" she didn't even know Europe was a continent, she thought it was a country!  The humanity!  Well it's television so let me get my shotgun.

Most PEOPLE are stupid. It is just easier to blame kids.

It is not so fun being my age on the internet.

I don't think that our generation is dumber, the problem is actually that fact that parents are not nearly as strict with thier kids. It not that they are getting dumbers, it that they have no common sense.

The inbreeding doesn't help, though.
