I wasn't calling you stupid Little.  Read the link if you want more info on the "Jaywalking", it has to do with teens not caring about the reality around them, but some other world.

You guys really need to chill. If anything we are the smartest generation in this point of human history. A lot of people seem to miss the fact that there were problems before we were born. Tired of people always complaining about random shit when it has nothing to do with their life. Bitch and moan bitch and moan.

You don't like to read books? At least you can read compared to a shit load of people who couldn't before the printing press.

Can't spell? Ever watch those spelling bees on TV nowadays?

Teachers don't care? You are telling me teachers cared more in the 70's than in the present? Please son.

Children are shallow? Um...what? Kids are annoying at times. We all were.

Parents can't raise a child properly. YOU can? You really have no idea how hard it is. How about parents don't try as hard as they should. There is no "proper" way to raise a child.

People do drugs? They always have in human history. There are just more people in the world to do it now.

MySpace, Twitter, and all that other garbage? People are social animals. They love attention any way they can get it.

No way in hell will I be grouped into an entire generation. Even if I do have to defend idiots my fellow idiots are marter than the idiots of 100 years ago. Life became easier in our generation so people have too much time on their hands to do stupid shit. Why even compare this generation to any other? Life today is so much different than even 20 years ago.

Remember the good old days, when you had to serve 16 years in the legions after you came of age.  :P

Probably the most conservative thing I've ever seen. The good old days eh? Education levels have been increasing year on year for generations now, we're getting smart as we speak. Lifes just quite frankly easier than it was, and it's said we (as a generation) are stupid? Its the same with every other single generation thats been.

Its just a fact of life, older people can't stand to be outclassed by the younger, quick thinking smartarses that get shoved out of highschools and universities every year, heck I know I will, cause these kids will have it so much easier when I'm older, so I'll be bitter that I didn't have this stuff when I was growing up. So then a few of those smartarses forget that they were once kids, and write books to say how its not like the good old days and how they're not raised like they were with different parents.

And Taniec, I totally agree with you. Its just people writing stuff for the sake of making money.

That's what I've been waiting to hear.  It's not like the social gap is wide enough anyway.  Blarg.

When I say shallow, I mean that the I've met so many kids my age that cannot even begin to comprehend anything deeper than "I got some new shoes and went to Hot Topic", that if I had a dollar for each one, I'd have purchased Spain by now.

And you're so damned wrong when you say that there is no "proper" way to raise a child. No, there's not anything like, 'on their 5th birthday tell them this to make them a lawyer'. But there is a tried and true method to raise a likeable human being. 1) They need a good foundation of absolute morals, such as how raping, murdering, and many other things are wrong in all situations constantly. 2) They need someone to talk to about the gray areas of morality, like killing in self defence and such. 3) They need to be taught a good work ethic. 4) They need to be taught how to respect other people.

You forgot the most important ones: (0a) They need to learn how to learn and how to adapt and to learn and to adapt. (0b) They need to learn how to understand. None of those that you posted are that important, sure they help in lots of situations, but one can do without.

Killing in self defense is a gray area?

For some. I think it's perfectly fine, but it would appear that locally, most people dissaprove of killing at all.

Hot Topic is still popular? Anyway, they are kids! I don't want 12 year old kids to think about world politics and nuclear threats from North Korea. We have a bunch of older guys in the government to worry about that.

As with parenting while I do agree with you there are basic principals you must teach your child it is how you convey those messages that can be done in different ways. I don't see a five year old have the mental or physical capacity to even think about rape. Somewhere down the line the school system teaches all the basics about being a good citizen of these United States to kids anyway.

When I was growing up the only thing my parents did for me was give me clothes, food, and an education. There were no family dinners, no birthday parties. I never talked to my family about murder and rape or if God is real. I learned everything that I am today on my own. Sometimes you don't need to do much to raise a good kid. The community that surrounds the kid IMO is far more influential on a kids development than his own two parents.

The biggest piece of advice I can give to anyone is that people need to stop worrying about how other people live their lives. Stop thinking about how everyone else around you is dumb, but instead worry about how you can improve yourself.

1. They make excellent "Jaywalking'' targets
I don't jaywalk when there's cars around.

2. They don't read books -- and don't want to, either
I read plenty of books, thank you very much.

3. They can't spell
Of course i can spell! What ridiculous statement is that?

4. They get ridiculed for original thought, good writing
When i do, i classify the person who does it as "Incompetent buffoon" and try not to talk to him.

5. Grand Theft Auto IV, etc.
I don't play GTA IV.

6. They don't store the information
Of course i do!

7. Because their teachers don't tell them so
No, but i figure it out anyway.

8. Because they're young.
That's no excuse. I'm young.
