<abrupt topic change>
You know? I think people assume that dreams should make some sense after you realize you're dreaming. I don't think so... since I threw this object at an elf last night and made its upper body explode in gore... so I could post about it :D

Hey!  A Penrose Triangle!  Those are really fun to make.  I have a collection myself.

You people actually have that good memory/control? I thought that was much rarer.
Wh9it that I mean actually be able to go thought whit higly spesific things you decided while awake, and to do complicated things without waking up/destabilizing the dream?
(I might no be able to lucid dream myself, but I read books worth of the damn theory. Not actually completely wasted as it helped whit understanding of other psychology related areas.)

A tip/thing you could do and report about that I from a personal source that I know is awesome: being a snake/mantis ray/electric eel/something else whit senses humans don't have. Spend half an hour reading up on it on wikipedia while awake, check up on its anatomy and while still awake think in many ways about how it would feel actually feel whit high realism and no shortcuts like projecting it on a sense you already have. Then when dreaming change to it in a way that makes all those sensations you just abstractly imagined while awake become real.

One I recommend for starters is some common kind of snake, the heat vision is similar enough to optical vision to be rather easy, and the feeling when you sink your fangs into the soft flesh of some little rodent is just... mmmn...
Just be sure you give yourself the instincts and mind of the animal in question, not just the body.
Also, sunbathing as a reptilian, or a cat for that matter, is so much better than as human, at least if you have nerdskin like me which you probably do considering you are on the DF forums.

It's harder than just messing around, and require preparation while awake, but it's SOOO worth it. I know this from some psychological techniques I've tried, but an actual lucid dream should be much more intense an experience.

I've only dreamed as a human.  That would be interesting though.

Complicated things? Naw, I can't do anything very complicated. Imagining that penrose triangle is simple as long as you don't think about it too hard. It's not like I spent any time considering how it should interact with the elf, I just decided 'Hey elf. You're going to explode when this whatsit hits you very hard.' and it happened.

I generally dream as having the senses of sight and sound and touch, but I don't usually need a body, just an image.

W00t!  I has a lucid dream again last night.  I was out shopping at a mall when I crazy guy with a car started chasing me, needless to say I was untouchable with my matrix moves.  I ran out into the street and hurried to the tallest building in the city.  The chaser had to ditch his car when we got to the building.  I jumped up the stairs with him following I kicked down the roof door and saw I was at a dead end so I looked over the cliff and jumped.  That felt awesome with the whole city in view and the wind and the OTHER GUY JUMPED AFTER ME so we both started falling for about a minute and I saved him.  I grabbed him and stopped our decend with my super matrix powers.  He was arrested and I saved the day again.  It gets blurry after that.

You are watching too many action movies!  ;D

Hey!  I remember while I was in the mall I ripped a pillar/support off from the mall.  Just grab it hulk style and chucked it.

You know what was funny is that I wanted something completely different to happen that night, but you never get what you want!  You can try to change it DURING the dream, sure.  But be warned, I have tried this with VERY HORRID RESULTS.

Is it just me or do you tend to have more-lucidity in dreams if you fall asleep sitting in a chair?

Also while I'm thinking about it has anyone successfully modified your perception of time so the dream seems to go on for like months?

Chair? I've never fallen asleep upright.

Time stretching out forever? Yep, been there, done that... dreaming about being in a closet while trying to mentally convince a barbie doll that it could strip down in the room because I'd left. I got 'stuck' and it felt like I was trying to convince it for a few hours. That was one of the nights that I wet myself. ???
