I was thinking of trying the "wake up a few hours before you normally wake up then try to dream" technique, but i'm not sure if i'll get enough sleep if i do this. i go to bed around 10:00 pm and wake up at 6:35 Am. is this a good time frame for the above mentioned method?

I just slept for ~24 hours straight...I had rotating lucidity...in about seven or so dreams...of most of my dream personas...I was on both the inside and outside of a rather large building with modest congruence throughout but distinctly different flavor in both surroundings, aesthetics, building and technological techniques, and occupants.

It was fun, intriguing, and insanely realistic...like walking though actual parallel worlds to see the subtle differences and similarities.

For example compareing two of the more abstract from each other, the demonoid and the technician, both in a tower that looks similar only in shape and layout, where the demonoid has a cultist and hellspawn mood the technician has a high-tech and scientific mood, the technician has a holographic and energy feild based technology the demonoid has an organic interface and a semi-magical based technology, where the surroundings of the demonoid were fire, brimstone, and lava the technician's were cold ice and water, but everthing was similar in function but performed a different way.

Okay, after a long night of playing Oblivion, I go to bed.

I wake up in a swamp, on a wooden pier. Kind of confused, I follow it until I find a hut on a small island. I peek into the window, and noone's home. I kick down the door and raid their fridge. Just an apple and some venison, but it'll have to do. I grab some wine off the top of the fridge, then leave. I go along some more pier until I find mainland (or so I thought, it could have been an island). I go to the top of a hill and scout my surroundings. There's a crummy little village to my west, and more water everywhere else. Logic time.
As I walk through the center of the villages, bandits burst out of the doors. I draw my sword... wait what? I don't remember having a sword! Anyways, I cut the bandits down skillfully. I continue on into a port with a bunch of crates everywhere. This is where things get real surreal. These crates had some sort of organic tubes coming out of them, dripping liquid that changed color.
I investigate the tubes, when I am forced to the ground by another bandit. He/She uses their root-like arms to strip me, then takes my clothes and runs off. Freaky. Dazed and naked, I continue towards the biggest building in the area. It's pretty beat up, but still looks pretty sturdy... and surrounded by a lava moat. Whatever. I cross the rope bridge to the front door, then peek inside. A couple of the root bandits are around, along with the one that stole my clothes. I am about to find another route in, when I feel the bridge shake behind me. One of the root-whatevers snuck up behind me, then shoved me into the room. I scramble to a pillar, then put my back up against it. I ready my fists, and let them fly. Terrible idea on my part. They grab my arms, keeping me still.
I start fading out, thanking myself for avoiding the obvious raep.

The best part of this dream is that it had Oblivion HUD.

My dreams often have strong game themes. My dream the night before last started pretty scattered (I was at school) but changed to me and a few others (my 'party') fighting a lizardlike/wolflike thing. It was big, fast and strong, and eventually we decided to just try to wear it down by dodging. And then the fun started - it started using that Leviathan flood move off of the Final Fantasy games. You know the one with a massive tidal wave? After we got well and truly drenched, it mixed things up, and created a massive tidal wave, followed by another one... of LAVA. I had to run around like nuts, with my only advantage being that the lava cooled on contact with the water. It started mixing the pattern up, and I was jumping and dodging all of these waves of lava, trying to find the smallest gap to leap into the safe waves. Finally, I jumped on the things back and hacked it to death. It was very awesome, and probably influenced by the beach I've been going to nearly every day.

Anyone have continuous dreams? It seems last night, my dream was a continuation of the one I previously posted. Well, on with the show.

I wake up tied to the very pillar I became very... familiar with last time. I'm covered in a clear substance that feels much like snot. The bandits are long gone, and my clothes are hanging from a clothesline; just washed. I use the whatever-I'm-covered-in to slip out of the ropes. I collect my belongings and head back out. There's been a slight scenery change since I last was out here. Now I'm in the middle of a meadow in a mountain range. Nothing is too amiss, aside from the giant effigy of a penis made of obsidian in the distance. Seeing this as the only available landmark, I move towards it.
It is nearly sunset when I arrive to a river, about halfway to the statue. I clear some space and set up a small shelter using a tree and some woven grass. I start a fire, and cook my venison. It is still covered in the snot-substance, which turns it a golden brown. I take a cautious bite from the glazed meat. Tasted like tears and meat. I'm pretty sure I know what I was covered in. I take a bath in the river, traumatized.
The next morning, I set out once more. The statue gets ever so close, when the ground opens up below me. I drop into a large carved room, with barred gates protecting the only ways out. Then, a gruff voice reverberates throughout the stone room.
"If ye want out, yer gonna hafta fight. Release them, Mogul."
Then, the gate to my east creaks open, and guess what pops out. The very leader of the banditmonsters that tied me up a while ago. Then, I roar at the top of my lungs with my sword drawn, "I AM CLOTHED THIS TIME, MONSTER. VIOLATE ME IF YOU CAN!"
I need to watch my mouth. The gate behind me had opened silently, releasing some hounds. I am struck from behind, and am launched forward towards the rape monster. I use this momentum to my advantage, and point my sword in front of me. I pierce straight through the bandit thing, covering myself in it's white ichor. It falls to the ground, roots still twitching. Then, I spin around, slicing the throat of one of the hounds as I go. The final dog cowers and flees.
I feel a burning sensation on my skin. The ichor is burning me, and has gotten into my bloodstream. I fall on the ground and start convulsing.
The last thing I see before I fade away is a short and stout female standing above me, grinning.

I woke up sweating.

I feel like you're making this up, Tradan.  That begs the question, why are you making up stories about being raped?

To answer Tradan's question, yes. I once spent a weeks worth of dreams in the same storyline.

Unrelated: Had a dream the other day influenced by dwarf fortress and Assassins creed strangely enough. Some of my friend's and I were charged with defending another of our friend's because she was a baroness or princess or some schist. So the bodyguards (All my friends who are able bodied and male and myself) were given a uniform, (ezio's assassin outfit with the red cape) dunno why. So everything happens without incident. We then have to travel through a warehouse to get to a vehicle and leave. The would-be assassin makes himself known and I am forced to fight him 1v1 ( met him during a sweep of the area) I pull a curved dagger and take intiative, stabbing him several times. He doesnt notice/ doesn't care despite the fact that I nearly lost the particularly large dagger in his left shoulder. one of my allies arrives with a spear and stabs him in the lower back. the assassin is still unfazed but angry and whips around, hitting me with the spear's handle. I wrench it until he dies but not before he breaksmy partners arm.

one note: this takes place in the modern era but everyone is dressed as if it's the midle ages. I was the only one who noticed, which !@#$ed me off cause it was lucid mostly and I couldn't change it.

If you hit a dwarf with moving water with sufficient strength it will knock the baby out of the mother's arms.  The water can then be used to sweep the baby into a well or cistern for drowning.  The device which does this can also double as a mist generator.

You... feel like I'm making this up? I'm not gonna argue with ya, but dreams are dreams.
And I'm not sure why the theme of my dreams is rape. I think I need to play more Yume Nikki.

I had a WILD from a normal dream again, and again it was scary.

First though, my normal dream.  It was awesome.  I was playing this game with my brother that was kind of like Left 4 Dead in that it was co-op and there were zombies.  We were in this big room full of lava, and my brother has some kind of weird shotgun that somehow I believed was from 40k.

Did I mention this was a virtual reality game, and we were actually in it?  Yeah.  Anyway, a new zombie comes out and we're seamlessly transported into my living room (You know how it works in dreams, there's no transition when you teleport, it's weird).

Anyway, this zombie is wearing a really crazy-looking black hoodie with white trim, and is looking very intimidating all-around.  My brother shoots it in the head with his shotgun.  I swing my shotgun at it for some reason, and it returns the favor by swinging at me.  I dodged it and fell onto my back, dropping my weapons.  It reached for me and I kicked it, telling my brother to shoot it.  He did, but it had no effect and the next kick it grabbed my foot; as well as my brother's foot for some reason.  It tossed us both away and my brother was out of commission for the duration of the dream.  It got right up in my face, and I looked over, seeing my pistol just within reach.  I stretched as far as I could to try to grab it (This was intense, man) and it stepped on my foot and picked up the pistol.  It was standing on me so I couldn't get up, so I was pretty unenthusiastic about my odds in the situation.  It cocked the pistol and pointed at me, I grabbed the barrel and pushed it out of my face, we struggled like this for a minute and things started to go in slow motion as I fought to stay alive.  I suddenly remembered my other hand and went to grab the pistol, and suddenly woke up in my bed, reaching for nothing.

The WILD was during a different, less interesting dream.  It happened like every other WILD, except I thought my brother was in the room because in the LD I was convinced the ND was real life.  As I was falling I felt something get really close to my face and made a kind of snoring/growling noise.  I got scared and that was when things got crazy.  I think since the dream is a construct of my mind my emotions affect it, feeling scared makes it scary.  It's a vicious cycle.  I landed in my bed unable to move or speak, although I tried to get my brother (Who wasn't there, doesn't even live here) to wake me up.  It circled around the bed and I saw it, its face was half white and half obscured by the darkness, and the white part kind of shifted in a weird way, like some kind of alien mandible.  It started to lean in close and I started breathing really heavy even though I knew it was a dream.  Anyway, about that time I woke up.

I think the first dream was influenced by my recent ingestion of large amounts of AVP3 information.  It's coming out next month and has close-combat sequences like what I described, where the alien/predator gets right up in your face.  Looks awesome, man, there's no way I'll be able to resist getting it.
