The reason World Hunger exists is simply due to how the economy functions. There is no money to be made in feeding the world.

In fact there is more money to be made starving people and feeding others.

If there is too much food around and even the poor have enough access to it, then it drives the price down.

Milk would be a good area to research if you want to know about Food economics. A lot of Farmers have to destroy their supply in order to make a profit.

I'm really not sure what they could mean.  The most probably way is by measuring the number of people who are in areas deprived of food, and the number of people too poor to be able to buy enough food.  But they fail to define either of these things.
That;s what I was implying in the beginning. What the heck is "hunger"?

Hunger is split up generally into two categories

Cronic Persistant Hunger (which makes up over 90% of all hunger related deaths)

and Starvation

Cronic Persistant hunger generally speaking is not having enough to eat but having access to food.

I work in a grocery store (bleh), and I think it's sickening how much food is WASTED. Every single day. Hunger is not a problem that the third world can readily solve either because it's fault of rich countries. They're buying a shitload of food (raising food prices) only to throw it away and eat only a tiny portion.

Y'all gotta stop being snobbish pigs that only eat the most pristine fruits and vegetables. :B

Supply side economics in this area tends to involve destroying food, or selling it very cheaply in other countries and undercutting local farmers.  I don't think that tends to help very much.  I've always preferred the idea of helping people to be able to buy food and using increased sales as an incentive.

I did a report on this once for school, basically we have enough food produced to basically keep everyone alive. Its just it never reaches anyone who truly needs it. Its stuck in warehouses going rotten cause of some bueracratic nonsense in some guys office. Shame really.

Also, politics. Specifically, the type of politics that says "Food? We don't need no stinkin' food! MARIE! KEEP THE STARVING PEOPLE AWAY FROM THE CAMERAS!"

Well, in today's society everyone has their rights, except to die.  You don't have the right to die.  That is the worst of all.  Torture sure, but not dying.  Meh.
