Armok, you are either making a very elaborate joke, or you know almost nothing about a whole lot of things.

I'm going to go with the joke option, seeing as how you're talking about there being giraffe girls in Africa.

I saw it more as a list of desirable qualities.

Armok: I'd have to see some of the theoretical tech behind this to make a call. It is suitable for a "space fighter" but... I dunno, something about those arms makes me hesitant. They look vulnerable.
Most of the tech I have gotten from somewhere, the only ones that are not standard stuff is the claytronics (read about how a primitive version of it is currently being developed) and the plasma thingy (got that from the webcomic Schlock(sp?) mercenary).
It is a spacefight in the sense it can propel itself and fight, it wouldn't have much of a chance against a specialized fighter, but if if you have superiority in numbers, or you're up against civilian craft, or have some other advantage, it can make do. it's really a better atmospheric fighter thou.
the arms are indeed a weak point, I mentioned that in the original post, that is why they are attached in a way that wont let the damage spread if they are harmed, and that makes them relatively easy to replace. Also, it's good at dodging.

What do you mean joking? I'm not joking and indeed think it's more realistic than a great deal of things from scifi shows. ANd I wrote giraffe girls becase i'm tired i mean those that put on a right evry year and then when they grow up they get a really long neck and if you remove the rights they cn break their neck i forgot what theyre calld ZZZzzzzz...

umiman: At the tech levels it would take to construct your weapon, assuming it's possible at all, I really don't think it will be humans in the driving seat.

Not classic homo sapiens sapiens, at least.

Oh, about diamondoid - no, it's not that energetically costly to make. People have done calculations.

It's costly to take apart, mind you; you're quite right that repairs would be hard. But at seven thousand times higher tensile strength than steel, I suspect it's worth it.

Space Marines are the future.  I will not accept any other vision of the future, and will cover my ears and shout until discussion of other futures ceases.

What do you think is our best choice of waging war? Superhuman android robot things? Master Chief? A friggin bigass tank?

My vote goes for robots. Robotics technology research is quite good. I think that primitive "war robots" will be a reality in ~20-30 years. More advanced/intelligent robots will be a reality in ~50-70 years.

Don't we have war robots already? Or do you mean Terminators?

I believe he means terminators. Or the non-humanoid equivalent. :P

I don't agree about his timeline, but that's more because I think we'll have had a technological singularity by then. At least I hope so; I see way too many existential risks with nanotechnology.. well, AI too, but at least you only have to get that right once.

We already have combat robots, and even guard robots.  If you don't give a verbal password they shoot you, and they can hit you in the head from over a hundred yards with ease.  I do not have enough faith in voice-recognition technology to think that's anything but the opposite of a good idea.

Needs citation.

Seriously, that sounds like it would lead to casualties in short order. Are you sure those are being used?

Well yeah something like that. Have you read the article about robocops btw? It was quite interesting.

This Cracked article discusses that armed guard robot from a kind of humorous perspective.

Also featured is a Japanese corpse eating robot.

So yeah, we totally are using deathmachines. The world needs a hero.

I bet we could get Strife to volunteer to get some horrible combat surgery and wear power armor and go in and show those robot using bastards that you can't fuck with the USA, etc.

I may have gotten it from that cracked article.  I can neither confirm nor deny the supposition.

Sadly, it's true. I'd rather use a tank though. Silly robots should meet a 120.

I do not know what World War 3 will be fought with, all I know is that World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones.
