lol, it looks like the change in price triggered a tantrum (even though that probably wasn't it). Still, I don't get it....

Traps are triggered by tantrumming/insane dorfs.

I've never had a tantrum spiral before. Are they really so... violent? :S

Sometimes. especially if you allowed all your dwarves to make friends. If there's one thing Dwarf Fortress has teached me it's that great carnage is possible if you have enough friends.

For the best of society, you'de better not have too many friends!

Sometimes, when my Dorfs are exceptionally stupid again, I wonder what exactly the [INTELLIGENT]-tag does.

80 dwarves. After one winter, it was 10 dwarves. Play on a skeletal amp, wait a while, and use a dwarf t bait something interesting into a trap. voila, tantrum spiral.

From Mr. Welch's 1350 things he is not allowed to do in a RPG:
148. There is no Gnomish Deathgrip, and even if there was, it wouldn't involve tongs.
171. My character's dying words are not allowed to be "Hastur, Hastur, Hastur"
218. No matter my alignment, organizing halfling pit fights is a violation.
231. I am not allowed to do anything that would make a Sith Lord cry.
240. Any character with more than three skills specializing in chainsaw is vetoed.

I just embarked with 110 dwarfs, 3 died, 107 are brawling in the dinning room.

That is perhaps the greatest thing I've ever heard.

Bonus points if your armory is next to your meeting zone, so now not only will you have 107 dwarves brawling in the dining room, but they will be brawling with masterwork steel axes.   :D

For future reference, to show images properly, you're going to want to use the "direct link" inside IMG tags. There's a button on the post console here (insert image) that puts it in IMG tags for you, if you don't feel like typing the tags yourself.

If it's a tad large, you can put in in SPOILER tags. If done properly, it should resemble this:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Much cleaner, aye?

Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine when people use thumbnails instead of the direct link.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Untelligent, the point of the thumbnail is to show a brief version of the picture, without making a 56k-er download all of an image/images. You having a fast connection doesn't mean everyone else does too, even if the ever-rarer 56k connection users all live under rocks.
