Tunnels
« on: June 16, 2009, 09:18:18 pm »

In adventure mode there are tunnels connecting certain civ cities.
Wouldnt it be good if it was possible to embark allong one of these/dig one of these and so recieve dwarf immigrants/merchants via underground means. An entire civ could do this and have no contact with the outside world and therefore never be sieged/attacked unless they showed value on the surface.

That could be an interesting embark option; embark along a tunnel underground, not on the surface. Maybe the surface wouldn't be 'revealed' until you breached it? That would mean no wood but what you bought/traded for, of course, until you start tower-cap farms or breach the surface. Crop-farming would also be tricky, as you would have to be careful to avoid breaking surface while you're digging out soil levels.

I think if that were the case irrigation might be a better choice, since underground water will be easier to find next version.

By the way, this has been suggested before.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

I didnt realise it had been mentioned.
Theres 300 pages to go through to find if somethings been mentioned before.
But it would be a really different thing.

Search bar on the forums and ctrl-f on the consolidated dev page have never failed me.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

You say RTFM?  How helpful.  Let me expand.

You can put URLs in google like so:

I agree, search bar does suck.  Also, the computer says 'no'.

Such as this search?  Take a look at the second result.  #9 and #23 are also relevant.

All I did was search for "tunnel embark."

Searching "tunnels" #6 looks promising.  Second post of #27 also mentions embarking on tunnels.

Searching the search result list for relevant material took me 3 minutes.
