Part 2A conversation taken place in a Dwarven Tavern two weeks before embarking. The two individuals can not be identified.“It is good to see you again. Hope the wagon ride here was comfortable.”
“…”
"Good to hear it. I made sure that nothing went wrong."
“…”
"I do owe you an explanation but before I begin have a drink on me."
“…”
"Of course. You haven’t changed a bit have you?"
“…”
"Yes. Well let me start me start off by saying that you are one of only few people that I can trust which is why I called you here today."
“…”
"Well…uh…that isn’t to be discussed right now. The fact still remains that I have chosen you for the task at hand."
“…”
"We have seen a lot together you and I. Too much for any one being to handle. I remember how scared you were during your first time in combat”
“…”
"I remember. You don’t have to worry about that. It isn’t the reason I asked for you to come. I need your brain not your sword."
“…”
"During that war everyone was ordered to be on guard. Men and women alike. Even those unfit for combat were called to duty. That is how silly things were back then. Not a single good thing came out of that war."
“…”
"I remember you bragging about coming from the Mountain Home and how you designed their defensive system."
“…”
“Right. This is why you are here."
“…”
"I trust you not to reveal anything about our little conversation."
“…”
"Good. With your help I wish to construct an outpost. A place above all other towns, cities, or ruins. Home for those who deserve it."
“…”
"How can I? That is the wrong question my friend."
“…”
"Just because you haven’t doesn’t mean you couldn’t."
“…”
"There are plenty of reasons. The resources available to us are rich and great. It will give you another reason to brag once the world has seen what has been created."
”…”
"I’m afraid not. No one can know what is really going on here. You must take a lesser role for the good of our new outpost. You must let someone else believe that they are in charge. Spread my ideas and let others act upon them so that they can come to fruition.
“…”
"You will be the driving force in the expedition but if someone were to find out who I am they might take advantage. I can’t take that risk."
“…”
"You don’t want to know."
“…”
"You have put a great deal of trust in me during the war. It is just a shame about what that war did to you. I hope you can trust me again."
“…”
"Of course. I’ll just get myself another drink."
“…”
"Okay, let us go over the specifics."
1st Granite, 201A new year has dawned and so has our new outpost. This fortress will take its first step into brining in the new age. From this point on I can manage the direction in which it takes. I can only lead from the shadows.
2nd Granite, 201One day into carving of the fortress and native copper was found. Looks like I was right. This is surely a sign for things to come.
12th Granite, 201It has been reported that there was trouble setting up the initial farm. Without proper irrigation this is the best we can do at the moment. Difficult, but manageable.
2nd Slate, 201The farms and stills are now complete. Basic survival needs are now met.
13th Slate, 201Without proper bedrooms the dwarves sleep on hard rock. Not to worry. Their hard work will be rewarded soon enough.
27th Felsite, 201The industrial backbone is now complete. Every single one of the dwarves now has the ability to do their jobs to the fullest capacity. Morale is high despite the poor availability of recreation and resting areas. I am quite pleased.
13th Malachite, 201The first phase of the fortress is complete. All basic needs are met and everyone is ecstatic. The dining room is a bit more exuberant than what I had planned for the beginning.
201, Mid-Summer Now the fortress is ready to…
*Sound of a door creaks as it slowly opens*
Huh?!
*A weapon is drawn*
