Whoa, you're a great man dwarf!

To be honest I didn't even think about asking him directly, don't know why  ???

And you're right, 3 - 12 sounds a bit much with this formula, though it wouldn't too make much  of a difference with the +14 modifier through size already in place  ;D

Anyway, thanks a lot! I m sure most modders are ecstatic after reading this formula.

At least now I know how to size my critters properly :). I've made a separate thread because this formula may stay unnoticed in a post #15. I will move it to wiki today.

P.S. Now when I think there's a dodging formula which may be as complex... It makes me crazy :D.

Size doesn't affect speed. Probably they had too heavy items.

So the ideas you came up are similar to mine. Still I don't really believe that a dragon deals 20 to 120 damage on an attack when there are weapon traps components dealing far more - and you can put 10 of those in a single trap. On the other hand I really don't have experience with dragons, just used it as an example.

It seems we really don't know much ...

Any chance to get a statement from toady or are we ment to figure it out ourselves ?
Give a dragon bite the type of damage that is likely to sever limbs and see if things nearly explode when they get dragon-ed.

Oh,

size 40 armor might end up with a silly weight multiple.

Anyway the formula pretty much has to be random for a lot of the epic stuff we sometimes see happen. Mentally we probably just attributed it all to dodge and block before but programmatically this sort of thing isn't very cpu intensive and gives the most interesting results.

1:6 seems to be pretty default

Dragons don't need more because they're massive and breath fire.

Carps are natorious for dragging dorfs into water and drowning them

Cats are tiny, and weak because of it.

I just modded a race to have their main attack do 3:6 gore damage, so we'll see how that goes...

Carps CAN'T drag, any creature can't drag dwarves.

Dwarves just jump in the water during combat.
