3:3-:-- Boatmurdered the play,doit.

Just finished... Finally.

Really enjoyed it. In fact I can see what you meant by wanting to be able to listen to it again to reminisce the experience,I'd be willing to give it another listen some time in the following days.

Good show, was the length planned or did you just see how long you could go?
Obviously there were some flaws as previously mentioned, but otherwise I was entertained.
Can we look forward to more interviews?

I've been talking to Tarn about a regular, half-hour to an hour sort of mini-podcast about recent developments and questions from the public, but his main issue was that this sort of thing has been offered to him before and he doesn't want to choose between podcast hosts.

Also, I'm probably a worse candidate than any other person who tried to do this.

Will we be able to order our squads into squares and have them march down the central hallway of the fortress periodically to show off their shiny weapons to the onlookers?

The showoff part people won't care about, but you should be able to move them around more or less in a formation.  Given that dwarves move at different speeds sometimes and are phased differently, they'd have to work extra hard to get it to sync up perfectly, and I'm not sure if I'll go through the trouble at this time, but even in the worst case they should stay within a tile of the optimal position and then attain the proper position when they stop moving.  We'll see how that plays out though, he he he.

Toady,please don't remove the visualizer.

Does it actually do something useful for you?  I can't even get it to do what it used to do now, in terms of anything at all, aside from seeing a gray blob that kinda moves sometimes.

I think it might have been Languidiir's planned length, but since they were also going to do another podcast that day, I'm not sure if it was always the planned length or if it became the planned length a few hours through.

I, personally, would like to see more interviews with Toady like this one.

edit: Languidiir got here first in the post above, but I'll just leave this as is:

I'll most likely appear on other podcasts intermittently as they come up.  In terms of the broader question, three forum people now over the months/years/whatever have extended serious offers to co-host a B12 podcast or whatever it would be.  It seems like there's some interest in that kind of thing, and as long as it wasn't that often, it wouldn't be a huge time sink for me and it probably wouldn't get too boring for those that are interested in listening to begin with.  The problem now is that I just have no idea how I'd set that up or handle any number of people large or small that might want to be involved in some way.

You know, it's funny that you type 'he he he,' because that's exactly how you laugh, and it's brilliant.

Toady, Do you think it will be enough of an issue that dwarfs move at different speeds. (Say your only champion who runs like a cheetah runs into a battle he can't handle alone). Such that it would be necessary to have the ability to sync dwarf speed through training. Like drilling Soldiers into marching in formation such that they move at the same speed?

Or just have them all move at the speed of the slowest dwarf in the squad.

Yeah. Sounds like it would be effective. But shouldn't there be a way to command your dwarfs to fight beyond their limits for small periods of time?

Toady speaks so well and clear that even people with almost no experience in spoken english (like me) can understand him. Great interview.

As a salty bastard myself, it amuses me hearing Toady casually swear like a sailor in conversation.

As it stands right now,it is a method to view your fortress in 3D without downloading anything additional,a shoddy blob of gray it might be,it is useful for simply being there.
Plus if it remains, who knows if you might get a sudden spurt of interest and update it?

In fact, one time I took a casual glance at the thing and it showed me a glaring defect in one of my walls that I would have missed otherwise.

I have no problems with the planned? removal of the visualizer. Perhaps later on Toady will replace it with a decent one. [Think about 3dwarf for example.  :)]
