Oi oi oi. Making me log in and stuff. Pssssht. I very rarely ever reply to anything, but, I felt I might as well here.

So, I listened to half the podcast before my narcolepsy kicked in and I passed out. I'm listening to the rest right now, but this reply is centered around what I've heard so far.

Honestly, I think it's fantastic, and a wonderful job by Languidiir, Toady, and the mostly silent Madman. Now, of course, if you thought of it as an interview, the whole interrupting thing, or being sick, or whatever, would probably bug you. And it seems it has bugged some people as it stands.

Personally, I thought of it more as a bunch of friends getting together and just talking, while recording. I don't know about the rest of you peeps, but when I'm talking to my friends, interrupting each other, talking over each other at times even, is the norm. And, the information I gleened from the first half of the podcast is immense. In addition, it's just really really funny so far.

So, again, good job everyone.

- Kayla

Edit: Just finished listening. Four hours. Wow. My life is pitiful. *giggles*

Nah, it was great and I loved hearing Toady talk about the game. Again, great job everyone.

Hopefully it was entertaining nonetheless.

It definitely was, didn't mean to give the wrong impression.  The coughing/background noise didn't really interfere for me, and your interview questions seemed pretty good overall.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but it bothers me that there was someone who was prepared to actually stop listening because of my ineptitude. This indicates that I need to change something...
I'm not sure about you guys, but it seemed fairly obvious to me.

Say breasts every 5-10 mins, should pique any guys-or-lesbians-listening's interest.

But, seriously? It may have been the long drawn out answers, but that happens with all interviews. People skip the parts they don't really care about... I was listening to hear more about Adventure Mode, and I very very nearly nearly skipped some parts... But I listened all the way through. :)

Agreed. But, the only thing that made me wince was interrupting Toady.

Same opinion as most others so far. Audio wasn't good and in the first half at least, the interrupting didn't feel at all helpful for the flow. I'm currently up to... 2 and a half hours in and though the audio is still kinda terrible, the conversation is flowing better. Not sure exactly what changed, I guess it just feels more relaxed or something. Having one or two more people for the first part of the conversation might've helped, I dunno.

Languidiir and co. - you did a shitload better than I'd be able to, so while it had its problems, it was still a damn interesting interview. Good job.

Edit: the beard thing nearly made me laugh out loud. T'was good.

Thanks for an entertaining interview, to Languidiir for organizing and conducting it as well as to Toady for taking the time to give it.

As others already said, there's be a couple of flaws if we evaluated the interview from a professional perspective - the background noise, the silence of the co-host, etc. But none of those kept me from listening and enjoying it, and instead of complaining that an interview done a by a dedicated hobbyist doesn't meet the quality standard of a professional effort, I'd much rather be thankful that someone went through all the effort to give us this interview at all.

Also, I really did enjoy it. I think the open format worked out pretty well - it gave you the freedom (for example) to speak in-depth about an interesting new topic like the game generator. If you had the interview pre-planned, it would've been much harder to do this, because I doubt that any plan could have included this topic. I also liked how you kept at it for four hours. :)

If you plan to do more interviews in the future, you'll obviously want to work on the flaws that this one had - but don't think that we didn't immensely enjoy the interview because of those. I took it more as a conversation between friends than as a professional interview anyway, and still I learned about interesting new stuff from it.

Yes! Really liked the interview. And I love that it was so long. Personally I wasn't annoyed at all.

It did kinda drag on near the end, but that's more because they were stalling for time to get to 4 hours and Toady's ramblingness. In the future, I think they should probably be shorter and more focused. Not much more focused, mind you, because 2 hours of talking about water gets boring pretty quick, but maybe 2 hours on the material system, say, or how magic would work compared to Armok 1.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Thanks, guys. I'll definitely take your criticism in mind when doing interviews. Glad you enjoyed it!

Every month it seems like Toady is stuffing more and more "Things to come" into his closet and more and more I am starting to notice it bulge.

It is really getting crazy and I am just waiting for my own Hype Backlash.

That was my favourite funny part. Favourite serious part was the discussion on the random game generator, you could tell Toady was excited about that.

Everything is as good as it sounds when it gets implemented. It's just that it takes forever and a day to get implemented. Often worth the wait, though.

I loved this interview. Some issues with sound balance, but it's hard for me to determine how much was a fault with the interview because it was stormy when I listened. I, personally, would like to see more interviews with Toady like this one.
