Babies killed in combat
« on: June 14, 2009, 06:24:18 pm »

When a baby dwarf is killed in combat, is it common for the mother to still seek the infant that is no longer on the mortal plane?

I gave him a tomb, his parents have sarcophagi in the tomb as well. When they die, they will rest as a family

Military dorfs are the busiest if their partner is also in the military, Military children are my forts future, also its hilariously tragic when a mother carrying her child into battle gets hit, and the baby dies....
I fixed that up for you.

I saw a baby lose an eye that way once. She survived into childhood.

My dwarves have never gotten that far. They always try to get some flaming sock or other instead of making little 'uns. ;)

My dwarves starve to death even before any socks are noticed.. I always fail to deliver food whenever migrants appear in huge numbers.

Mine usually just have an overcrowded barracks, and so not many feel like having children.

*from 2 feet away* Urist Mcsleeping:"Oy! Jim, Jane, don't do that in here, would ya? I'm tryin' ta sleep and the last thing I need is you two giving me nightmares!"

That usually tends to lower my birth rate.

One of my champions on my current fort is using her down time to crank out as many babies as possible. At this point, I'm fairly certain she must be carrying them backpack style in cloth like an African woman, because she can't possibly be holding them both in her hands..

from now on, I'm checking to make sure all military dwarves are male.

babies make great armor. if you think that's a tad too deranged for your tastes (pansy) you can use females as marksdwarves.
