Mechanical script language.

this is likely to be too complicated to add easily, but it might be a good Idea to make it so mechanics, traps and all can be modded through a scripting language.

I am thinking with only one person working on this game, the return on investment in time just wouldn't be there.

perhaps an ability to expose script through the raws?
I really don't know the feasibility of that however.

that's what I meant. make it possible to create something that should be simple, like a rotational sensor that when hooked up to power would trigger what its hooked up to.

Scripting languages are a very popular suggestion and I don't see much advantage in restricting it to mechanical devices.

I hear Lua is not too hard to implement with C++, cortex command did it and garry'smod.
