They'll be an update sometime tomorrow (hopefully).  I'm going to get my sleep schedule decrapified, so I'll actually be able to concentrate.

Because a turn has already passed in AoR, we're going to do two turns in short order. I'll type up the results of the current actions, then we'll have one more turn for this year.

Urist spends some more time with his sheep. Not much really happens. He spends some time running around when his flock is sleeping, so he gets to be a better runner. There was a report of a mountain lion in the area, but Urist didn’t have any problems. He had a cool Curly stick for fighting anything off anyway.

Who the hell knows what Cemir does. I’m a little too lazy to write up specific turns for Inaluct. When he gets back, I’ll describe what Research Sharkstupid has been doing.

Zildoap tries to give his speech, but it fell flat to a large extent. It made sense in his head, but he was quickly slapped down by a lot of the zefies present. There weren’t as many people in the sprawl, the farmer’s guildmaster was actually around, and he pointed out that they still retained fields in the outskirts. At the same time, most of the puffs don’t think that recalculating the parliament representation would be a bad idea. Although, especially with the settlement group leaving, it might mean a decrease in representation for some of the inner-districts. Zildoap doesn’t think that his district would get affected that much (it’s the more wealthy area, and didn’t have all that many settlers). Of course, if anyone noticed that the system overrepresented the wealthy somewhat, he might get affected. This might be unpopular with his district.

Buer had apparently been studying too much time with the engineers. Why not build an overcomplicated machine to count food?! He builds his small-scale version, and it works pretty well. However, he ran into a slight problem when he tried to get mechanical help. There was a grand total of two mechies who weren’t working on other projects.

Mechie J: We got bored of the stable containment and feed system that they’re designing. Me and Mike’ll be happy to help. The rest of the people’ll be able to work on it after they get done.

Juliet, Mike, and Buer spent half of a day clearing some of the stuff up, then starting the construction of the first machine. A fairly confused runner came and told Buer that he had the job.

Sergeant Jackson: We don’t really know. You’d be one of the first. A bit of a trek up north. Then hard work setting up a colony. Then you’d have the chance to start a new life. Work on logging, or start a farm. We’ve got a headright plan in place, you’d end up with your own plot of land too. And everything is tax free up there. Of course, you’d also have to deal with the fact that you’d be in the wilderness, and somewhat less protected than the rest of the nation (although, on a per capita basis, you’d be better protected).

Zefie Officer: Done. You can work with the 6th. You’re free to root through our supplies to find what you want or need. I suppose that the bow’ll be a problem. We’ll have to have it custom built. Welcome to the Army of the Zefie Confederacy. If you’ll follow me to the bowyers . . .

When Olon and the officer walked into the workshop, it was very quickly called to attention.

Zefie Officer: Leonard, this is Olon. He needs a bow, the best you can make.

Axillary’s Leonard: Sir, yes sir.

After the Officer had left.
Leonard: Sheesh, new mercenary and you’re already being personally escorted by Colonel Cia?

Olon: I didn’t know he was a Colonel.

Leonard: Would you like a description of the ranks of our army?
Olon: Not really. I’ll get it later?
Leonard: Fine then, a bow. You can’t just grab one of the 5th or 6th’s extras. It wouldn’t work. Zefies have a pretty strange makeup. We can lift surprisingly heavy wiehgts, but we can’t really do extended exertions very well. This gives us lots of trouble with draw weights. You, however, are a human. So, I’m going to take this opportunity to make a longbow.

The bowyer took a few measurements and got to work, telling Olon that it’d be ready in a day or so. He recommended that Olon go look through the military stocks to find whatever he needed.

I'll of course procure my needed equipment and supplies, besides the bow which is being custom made (Though I would have asked for a Recurve Bow, specifically because I'm a horseman. This will have to wait, but I will get one at some point. The Long Bow can be shot on horse back, its just extremely hard, and it isn't at all a weapon for warfare unless your on foot. This means that the bow will have to have around a 110-120 pound draw, as Olon will make use of its heavier draw for hunting of big game, it won't be used much as it could have been for fighting, because its just not at all suited for mounted warfare) for me, I will take the following from the Military stores.

Field provisions, such as food and water. Multiple waterskins would be good, they can be filled multiple times on the way. I will need enough food to last me the trip, and water can be refilled, but I'll need enough of it. Next I will take some equipment, a tinder box, a couple of knives for skinning and general purpose, a saddle for a horse if they have one, if not then that will have to be made aswell.

I will also need a horn, some apples, feed, bodkin point arrows, my horse reshod, parchment, an inkwell, rope, saddle bags, and a spear. Iron tip if possible. Though it should be.

The arrows will go into a quiver which I can fit on the saddle and close up for rough journey, and most of the equipment and supplies can be put in the saddlebags. My horse needs to be reshod after the rough journey here. After I have all of that done, I can probably sit tight for a day or two waiting for my bow, and listen for a couple of rumors.
