NOES, MY SWORD
« on: June 14, 2009, 05:49:56 am »

is it possible to grab a sword that is stuck in a wound but is no longer in your possession?

the I option doesnt allow me to get it and wrestling allows me to grab the sword like any other limb but i cant take it back

i have died twice this way

I don't see any reason they couldn't be. What would happen if they breached the HFS?

its been ages since ive been in your situation, but i remember that after using wrestling to twist the stuck item for a bit, you can get the option to pull it free. i think this happens when your target falls unconcious.

i allways carry one or two backup weapons because getting your only weapon stuck is a really annoying way to die, so ive not had to urgently recover a weapon from a living enemy for a really long time.

You grab the sword with your hand, not your upper arm or whatever.  Once you grabbed it with yer hand it will appear in the bottom of your inventory list and you can try to pull it out like normal.

P.S. You can also use this method to try to steal gear from an opponent.

After random wrestling training with an elf I often find that I've grabbed a random item of clothing in each hand.

after grabbing it with an open hand just hit (shift+i) to open the advanced inventory screen. At the bottom should be the weapon, in red. Select it and then hit (a) to gain possession. Alternatively you can grab it and then just step backward one space for the same effect.

The chances of gaining possession of it are directly dependant on your wrestling skill and strength vs those of your enemy.

I agree, but i wouldnt step backwards, if you fail you have to go through another round of combat grabbing it, to try again.

This gives the enemy another turn of combat to hack your defenceless ass to pieces

So basically, carry a backup weapon and retrieve your primary one from the enemy's brutally mangled corpse.

Yeah generally if you lose it once you will lose it again because they have superior wrestling skill (if you knock them out its a completely different story though). Still, its good to grab it with your hand because then when you [A]ttack, you can twist the sword, causing pain and bleeding.

I just keep pressing the directional button towards the place that the sword is stuck in.
Even an acomplished swordsmaster can pull out a sword after twisting it a bit.
I killed a legendary pikeman straight after starting in his town, the sword stuck in his lower body and I twisted it for about 20 turns before he collapsed in pain and I killed him 2 turns later.

You were twisting a sword in "his" lower body.
