To the edge aka Pave the sky
« on: June 13, 2009, 05:42:34 pm »

If I cover the entire top level of a map with floors, all the way to the edge, are ambushes and sieges going to spawn on that Z level once I put a floor next to it?

I'm pretty sure you can't build directly on the edge of the map.

You can. You just can't build anything that blocks pathing within five squares of the edge.

I've floored those five tiles and built a wall on the six all the way around on a couple of maps. Good fun.

You realize now someone you MUST make a spider web-shaped magma powered computer suspended in the sky right?

Needs to me separated into 17x17 program columns that PIPE their output into each other(once pipes are constructable, of course)

The question is: Does SKY-NET become evil or by some reverse dwarf logic - become the savior who lets the player win a game with no winnable objectives!?

Autofarming to feed elves....
Who then destroy/enslave the other civilizations.

Best of both results(except to the player, and the rest of the world)

... that would mean of course that the 'D-Web' would build a massive doomsday device and actually submerge all of the langmasses into lava?

D-Web gave me an awesome idea:
Flood the top with 2 z levels of magma (obviously with walls containing it along the edges). Then either have the floor of the poor all doors, or have a support pillar linked to a switch.

Flip the switch, either 2 Z levels of magma falls (crashing the computer) and soaks everything, or a floor falls, with 2z levels of magma to ensure everything that isn't crushed is burnt.

Record a video of it.

build a roof covering the top of the map them build a vaguely human-shaped statue to hold it up

bonus points for having a tree laden with golden apples nearby

Just wondering if it would be possible (however unwise) to make demons a civilisation
I don't see any reason they couldn't be. What would happen if they breached the HFS?

It's been done.

1) Use hatches.
2) Use pressure plates under each hatch (1:1 ratio of plate:hatch)
3) Invaders step, get burnt, hatch closes, remaining magma flows sideways and solidifies into an obsidian floor.
4) All their crap is burnt too.
