« on: June 13, 2009, 03:22:57 am »

Made me sit down, and sit through every episode of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. All twenty seven episodes, subtitled, with the original Japanese voice acting, in high definition.

Ah..Gurren Lagann, I should watch that after I'm done with Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and K-On!.

The show operates on the Rule of Cool, I have heard.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

its been so long since i watched anime.

i remember it all varying hugely, they do everything from awful kids shows to psychological real world thrillers in animation. i really dislike how an otherwise sane anime series sometimes does stupid things to the female characters for no appreciable reason. even when nothing overt happens there is so often an unseemly undercurrent, and it often shows up in shows targeted to fairly young audiences. its weird and very disturbing.

i remember really liking cowboy bebop, and enjoying the early part of evangelion before the messed up ending. ill have to ask some of my anime watching friends if they have anything good lying around and see if i can get back into it. and i want to find perfect blue. my sister got a copy of that when we were still in high school and the ending was missing. that was a very clever and messed up film.

My channel took the anime and put it at insane times (4 am on mondays!?! Yeah RIGHT) so now I have no source of anime other then the internet and a few DVDs I have around the house.

Which is a shame.

There are shows on early in the morning that I want to watch (The New Spiderman, Wolverine and the Xmen, and Ironman is somehow getting good) but I usually stay up too late on a saturday to watch them.

Dang it why can't I watch shows with continuity as a focus anymore?

You haven't yet? The mind screw is pretty decent, and some of the scenes are pretty cool.

Deserves atleast one watch.

I'd say the whole thing deserves at least two watches, because then you can actually start to understand what the heck is going on.  Because once you get it, you won't be left with an impression like this:

evangelion before the messed up ending.

Fucked up endings are the best.
Especially when everybody dies/turns to the dark side and dies.

I was thinkin' Death Note.
Haven't seen Blood+ though so it's a moot point.
