I think i ve spent about 3 or 4 minutes browsing the development pages as opposed to actually dwarfing. 

Dwarf Fort as a conceptual idea seems to be just as popular as the game itself, at least to me. How about you guys?

I think TV Tropes says it best: Dwarf Fortress is two games; the game it is now, and the game it hopes to be.

Of course, each game is itself two or three games depending on how you look at it.

It was pretty messy.
Then I found the future of the fort.
Now I just check up on that every so often.

I think i check dev_now at least once a day. It drives me nuts.

I actually haven't played the game proper for almost 5-6 months now. Same thing happened last time we had a long dev cycle going on. Once I've explored most of the gameplay that's currently in, it becomes a waiting game untill the next load of features gets thrown at me. Edit: The main reason for this is because my forts are so boringly stable and orderly. I think I'm incapable of creating hilarious and fun chaos, even when I'm trying to!

I'm liking the idea of never-ending assaults. Combined with the expanded military functionality, I can see DF remaining interesting much longer compared to previous releases.

Yeah, it isn't as fun as typing URLs and clicking links. Also I'm almost always bored and looking for stuff to do while on the computer, can't go streamlining the process and having even less things to keep me occupied!
