Looking For a Good Game (With Ships)
« on: June 10, 2009, 06:39:20 pm »

Okay, for a while I have been scouring the net for a game to quench my naval fetish. I am not looking for any specific game at all, it just has to envolve medeival/sailing ships and/or boats. It could be a roguelike, MUD, RPG, MMO, FPS?, ect..... I belive that I have too much of a fascination for this sort of thing. :P

the new Total War game is supposed to have a big naval focus.  and there is that Pirates of the Burning Sea MMO, but i hear its got a crappy user base.

I'd keep my eye on East India Company, though.  looks like its shaping up to be quite the game:

Saw that a while ago, looked pretty good. The kind of game I am looking for is sandboxy with an RPG feel, tough to find but there has to be one out there.

Uncharted Waters is what you're looking for. I prefer the sequel. They're both really fun and easy to find on the interwebs though. #1 is a lot harder.

I played Uncharted Waters: New Horizons on the SNES. I imagine it was a bit different, but still extremely good.

I played as Ernst and charted the entire world. It was an epic journey and probably one of my most vivid game-related memories.

I don't think this is precisely what you had in mind, but there's Patrician III. I haven't gotten it yet myself, however... http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/patrician_3

Battlestations: Midway is the first thing to spring to my mind, but it's got a bit of aerial warfare as well.

First ten minutes of play I ate my loincloth and then got some limbs torn off by a super friendly rat. Thumbs up from me.

Pirates of the burning sea is a MMO that came out not too long ago.  I heard mixed things about it, but they have a free trial, so you can take a look for yourself.
