Baldur's Gate II
« on: June 10, 2009, 04:05:22 pm »

Man, I love this game. I played it to death when I was a kid.

Hell, I even bought the game twice, just so I could get the expansion they weren't selling separately. (But I refuse to buy it a third time so I can get BG1 and it's expansion. I'm not that much of a masochist.)

Anyway, I'm planning to pop this baby on my new computer (it's XP, so I predict no issues). I'm curious if anybody knows of any good mods I could throw on it? Extra dungeons, new characters, maybe new races and classes. Hoping for some recommendations.

Also, if anybody remembers a class race combo they had fun with, feel free to share. Like I said, I played this game to death once, and I'm looking to get some more mileage out of it.  ;D

I recently bought the Forgotten Realms books. I distinctly remember my friend having a game extremely similar to this but it wasn't quite Baldur's Gate, more party/town oriented.

I have the PS2 version, meh.  I bet the PC version is VASTLY DOMINANT.

The was an expansion... I haven't played it though.

As for character ideas... Dialogue options are driven by intelligence, wisdom and charisma (it's sorta like fallout 2 in this respect). Given that you should be able to find a ring of human influence which sets your charisma to 18, high intelligence and wisdom might be fruitful. This would suggest a cleric/magic user. Also, play a male character the romances are better.

I loved BG2! It's also another game I hate for being a massive time sink too. We should have a "let's play BG2" :P

We should have Let's play BG+TotSC, THEN import the char into BG2+ToB, and let's play THAT.

Another thing you can do with BG2 is upgrade BG1 with BG2's engine and graphics, using the Baldurs Gate Tutu patch.

I wholly endorse the Let's Play idea, but I am not running it.

In other news, Human Sorcerers named Heironious Napalm IV are FUN!  ;D
Especially if I make journal entries in character!  :D

See this Let's Play for the awesome adventure of Heironious Napalm V. (I dunno, his son or something. Roll with it.)

First ten minutes of play I ate my loincloth and then got some limbs torn off by a super friendly rat. Thumbs up from me.
