I play on a laptop too. It lags like crap when it's starting up, but after that I didn't notice any lag.
I'm sure if you tried to drain or re-route it, you'd get some issues.

Yeah, my parameters generate a lot of failures, but the worlds end up looking pretty cool.

Someone should build the entrance to their fort behind the center of the waterfall. You'll have an awesome mist-filled entrance hall.

I doubt water will freeze in midair during the winter, so you can always exit during the cold seasons.

Have to dig myself out every winter. Sheesh.

Drawbridge that breaks the waterfall above your entrance.
Pull the lever!
Creak.
...
*Water splashing*
It worked!
*Slaughtered by orcs*

The water actually does freeze against the cliff. And my entrance is through the waterfall.  = D

Userpay: This is most distressing... has anyone else tried downloading the map?

Yeah, I think that might be the problem. I'll regen with all the original settings.
Hope you don't mind llamas and falcons (they only spawn in mountain biomes anyway).

Thanks this should be a very interesting area, I'll probably play it to a certain point then move back to the fort I had been working on.

Unfortunately, I have so far seen no creature-fish of any kind, just the little vermin-like-ones that you can catch.
I am hoping that this will change and we'll get some carp spawned in eventually, but only time will tell.
