Here's the updated map: http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-6171-ataleofzombiesstorymap

Dammit, now I have to try to make that rack mean something.

Yeah, I was pretty stumped about that too. It's made of leather, for god's sake.

Cranefly's journal: So that Frances guy did some rather interesting things today. First thing was somehow making an arms rack out of leather. LEATHER. Pretty good details on it, though. I'm rather fond of the one with the infected getting blown apart. Also, he's been badmouthing the corporates. Not that I like the bastards, you understand. But we need to have good links with them if we're ever gonna get our hands on some of those multirifles; that, and they pay me.

In other news, some of the military fuckers came by. Got something that isn't potatoes off them. A few of them got eaten by a passing horde. Poor morons, couldn't even fire straight.

Journal of Uci:
Ha! Finally another soldier and a fellow sniper at that has joined me and Gaweir in the militia. I met him when we were both on guard duty and we got talking. He's not a bad shot, after an hour we managed to total 30 infected between use. We then sat and talked of old war stories, sharing one of my last bottles of scotch

Personal Note: Currently I have 1 bottle of scotch and 4 bottles of vodka stashed in the ramparts behind a hollowed out panel

The infected are on the rise again, usualy after a big hoard passes by we don't see any for a while but right after it did single infected were wandering back into the area and haven't stopped. I should tell Jenn.

Is Uci a loner too?

What's with the looong tunnel and then the tower designated that has no stairs yet?  Making a guardpost?

I'm curious about Fenner's relationships/religion, as well, now that everyone else is asking.

Also, if anyone wants it/them, I did this to the graphics set.  The most important thing by far is Infected torsos (Although I don't feel comfortable working with the original graphics style enough to make fancy torsos for that version, same with the Brutes and Bloaters).

I was thinking... We haven't seen one of the elements that tend to come up in zombie-media yet. Religious fanatics!

Thus: could I claim a survivor? Preferably a social one, but the only real selection criteria would be ardent worship of Tequil.

Sturm if male, Cynn if female.

And Fenner will undoubtedly support that idea, if not the people behind it.   ;D

Gaweir doesn't have war stories.

The closest thing to a war story Gaweir has were a few really out of control riots, him having been a Riot Control Officer. Well that and a few big fire fights against the infected in the first days, before everyone realized that they were simply wasting ammo.

By the way, I won't get into a rant, because I do happen to agree with 'Tanks plus fucking nukes equals dead zombies before the shit hits the fan' thing, but yeah. Some how the military might of the United States Military wasn't enough for a few million rotting meat sacks with no weapons or armor what so ever.

Not to be political, but the might of the US could have been preoccupied overseas.  As well, if we assume that the zombies are playing by Romero rules, then ANYone who dies becomes one, not just those bitten, which presents a logistical problem in that an outbreak can happen anywhere if one person has a heart attack.  (Zombie bites acting more like komodo dragon bites; all the bacteria and crap in there is what gets you, not any special ability)

Of course, our little story here could go either way, since it's been mentioned to "Burn the bodies" of dead humans, but also a suggestion that it was a biological weapon gone wrong.  Since Romero rules assume paranormal happenings IE "Hell is full", then it can't be both.

Unless...... The virus stops the souls of the deceased from crossing into the after life as well. Thus being both at the same time!

Perhaps, but that implies that the infection isn't what causes the Zombiosis, but rather the being dead part does, with the infection just killing the soul somehow.

Which just means that Science has just become more Dwarven.

Now let's replace "kill souls" with "use the raw power of magma to power up a short man made from random body parts".

It does not kill the soul, but prevents it from going into the afterlife. The soul, with nowhere else to go, goes into a nearby corpse. Thus, zombies.
