Journal Entry 1, Gaweir Orsidious
I know the bossman has been writing in a journal too, and the paper isn't exactly easy to come by, but I managed to sneak away a journal for myself, mostly to pass the time while I'm stuck up here on the ramparts. They even have me taking my meals up here, just so I can take a few shots inbetween bites if I spot a Rotter close enough for me to plug a pellet in its skull.
I would say things have been going better, but besides getting my aim straight with this pellet gun here, we haven't been doing shit about getting ammo. I lost my shotgun awhile back I think. I don't remember that much even. Just cracking a dozen in the face with it and loading my last shell, before running away from that super market. That's when I joined up with that group who took me to exactly where I wanted to go.
I must say this place is actually better then Camp Four. Sure its not as big, and the Rotters smell, but it was the same way with Camp Four, and at least these bastards know how to get a defense together. Those soldiers pissing away their time wasting bullets on zombies not even close to camp, and patrolling around to look for signs of civilization when there was none. Make me sick.
Needless to say, I do want to feel the cold metal grip of a shotgun and all the power behind it again. That's a real weapon, not this peashooter they have me flying. I'll talk to the bossman about getting me a real gun at some point.
So I've been shooting the crap out of these things for the past...oh weeks, months, what have you. I lost track of time in all truth. I found out that there's a few tricks to it, but its mostly shit with the Zip gun that I won't have to remember once I get a shotgun for myself. If you can spot 'em, their eyes and a pellet make for a great target, the bone or wood just bounces around inside their skull fucking with their gray matter. They go down quick after that. And then if you can't get a clear shot, aiming for exposed legs, you can probably shoot it off with the right shots, and that slows them down more then they already are.
That's the thing with these infected. Sluggish all of them. The good part is that you almost side step them while taking shots, but its usually not a good idea because theres so many of them. A proper brawl takes a lot of patience, and a willingness not to do something stupid and try to go toe to toe with them.
These people don't realize what their dealing with here. These things only need one bite and your dead. They rip you apart, and there's usually no way to get to anyone who's gotten a bite on them. You can't fight them on even terms, you have to shoot them from afar, or behind a barricade.
I like the scatter of a shotgun, when their thumping at the gates I can usually get a good spread down below, and push half a dozen back with a blast or two. The pellet guns don't have any kick, you aim for the head or your not doing anything properly with it.
Oh shit. I see one of those big things lumbering towards us. Gonna see if I can get a bead on it.
