Okay I'm trying to think of a game that may or may not have become vaporware.  I first saw this game sometime between late 2001-2003.  It was touted as an upcoming high fantasy 3rd-person 3D MMORPG, I believe.

I only remember one part of the trailer which was just a pre-rendered CG movie (not game-play).  It showed a side view two powerful warriors walking through a dark cavern toward each other.  The lighting effects were really cool with each warrior carrying a torch to light their way.  I believe that the two warriors began to fight each other, and there was a huge, awesome-looking dragon that came at the end of the fight.

I don't think it was being developed in the USA, it was European or Russian I believe.  I forgot the name of the game and don't know what became of it, but would really like to know what happened to it since it appeared to have a lot of potential.
Sounds like the trailer of Mortal Online. Last I checked it was in open beta.

Wow, yep that's the trailer I was thinking of, that brings back memories.  I had no idea that it was Mortal Online...when did that trailer first come out?  I thought I remember first seeing it ages ago.  Too bad MO isn't half as good as that trailer portrays it to be.

There was once a game where you were a mech pilot and that you could play in many different tourneys for money. you could choose between 3 types of mech, and at the end of each tourney there was a boss you could fight. If you died you had to pay for repairs, and if you left premeturely you were payed based on your preformance.

A game, I think it was called something like 'Mortuum'. Basically you were an undead lord-thingy, running around from a top-down view, using a sword and physics to kill a lot of small pathetic humans. I know that you got a mace at level 2 and an axe at 5... But I don't really remember more than that.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

While making some nostalgia trip thanks to MAME, i noticed mentions of Guwange :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaS6OHpznI0
Watching that video triggered some lost memory in my brain.

From some of my adventurous youth memory, i played sometime a coin op but i have been unable to find the name.
I remember the coin op was located next to Operation Wolf in the pub we were playing it with friends of that time, so i imagine it is certainly +/- as old (Operation Wolf was from 1987).

The main problem is that i never actually knew the name (most likely it was untranslated from japanese characters in the title screen), so i have been unable to at least recognize it on some name listings from coin ops of that era since all that time

The concept was rather similar to one of a shoot'em up, it was set in some medieval/fantastic japanese environment like the Guwange of the youtube video, as you basically never ceased to fire to destroy the various enemies coming to you.
But unlike Guwange it was not following an automatic scrolling you incarnated some kind of ninja in this kind of semi-"top view" like in the Guwange game but from which the screen could scroll in every directions.

I remember you could sometime pick up a scroll, that allowed your character to use some special attack for a certain amount of time  some could fire on every direction, some not.

One of those special attack was throwing a water wave (that could fire only from bottom to top), another was some canons shooting canon shells.

The last remnants of my memory cells remember a level that looked like some kind of medieval themed japanese town, another level was in a cavern and at the end of this cavern there was some kind of big frog statue (that shooted something) in the end of that stage.

While there were some hard difficulty in some places, it was not a game of the era of the manic shooters

Does this remind something to anyone ?

EDIT : thanks to an old coin op specialist, i found the name of that old game : Ninja Emaki.

There was a game where you played as ghosts and haunted houses. That's pretty much it. I can't remember the name of it. Nevermind, found it.

Oh, I've got one...

THINK it was an old flash game...

Kinda like Tetris or Puzzlequest...

But depending on the color arrangements on the bottom line, you cast different spells when it sunk in. I.e.: summon dragons, get a storm cloud to block projectiles, shoot a catapult, summon archers/etc.....

Been having a hankering to play it, but having no luck finding it!

Doom, a timeless classic of a time when violence and religious symbolism was not so censored.

Eehhh, this is a very long shot, but if you only kind of remember the game it fits:  One Must Fall 2097?  It had tournaments, the demo only let you use three kinds of mechs, you had to pay for repairs based on your damage after every fight, but you also got paid after each fight.
