The game I am looking for is still in development.

It's a survival tactics game with vikings that is heavily inspired by Darkest Dungeon. I was reading about it recently but I can't for the life of me remember its name. One of the screenshots I saw showed the combat portion of the game, the bottom half of the screen had skills and such on it and it was very reminiscent of what Darkest Dungeon looks like, but the top half had warriors standing side by side on a grid based combat map sort of thing.

Maybe Iron Tides? Bout the only Viking related thing I can find that involves reference to DD, and the grid based bit fits. Don't see a strong resemblance with the bottom part, but *shrugs*

Thanks! I actually managed to stumble across the game I was looking for again, it is called Dead in Vinland. My memory had failed me, the game is more of a management/survival game than one that is focused on combat, but the combat bit is inspired by DD. http://deadinvinland.com/2017/09/19/fighting-1/

Interesting. Oddly enough, that system looks more to me like Grand Knights History (A PSP game from back in 2011 that got fan-translated a few years back) than Darkest Dungeon. Shared AP pool, grid movement, exhaustion and whatnot post combat... hella' reminiscent.

... fairly sure GKH is pretty obscure, though, at the absolute least outside japanese et al speaking countries. Might be they just incidentally developed inspiration from DD towards the system of a game they'd never heard of, heh.

I'm looking for a side-scrolling shooter, it was either for SNES or sega genesis, I'm almost sure it was genesis. All I remember is that it was a f**ing huge game, I spent a whole afternoon as a kid playing it and didn't reach the ending.

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

That's not a lot of information. What kind of side-scroller?

Aye, definitely could use something more. That could be popful mail, depending on how far you stretch side scrolling shooter (and genesis, heh. Was a Sega CD game).

You just described at least 20% of the games released in that era.

Well, I mean. We could also throw out names until something sticks. "Side-scrolling shmup on Genesis, huge" to me evokes memories of Bio-Hazard Battle, for instance.

Only after skimming trough youtube vids of genesis games I realized how awfully vague my description is. Sadly memory is lacking for more details. I -think it wasn't thunder force.

It was a game on here, freeware, really simple, probably game out early-mid 2015.  You played as a lich, or a necromancer, and you raised an army of undead moving across a map to try to eventually kill the king.  I think you had two or three resources, raised the dead by destroying towns.  Basic 2d graphics, roguelike, really hard to beat the final enemies.

I don't remember much else.

Conquest of Elysium 2 http://www.illwinter.com/coe/index.html (free) and Conquest of Elysium 3 + 4 http://www.illwinter.com/ (not free)
and KeeperRL (https://miki151.itch.io/keeperrl) pops into my mind but "kill the king" would not fit (ASCII-version is free)

Half sounds like it could be one of the necronator games. Flash based, mostly on point though not particularly roguelike, town wrecking was more income than straight undead, and it was generally a castle (or two) rather than a king. Don't recall if it ever got a dedicated thread in OG, but it's been mentioned a few times.

None of those are it.  As far as I remember it was just hosted on a cheap site the creator made.  It was an RPG, you moved around the map as the necromancer.  I don't remember the way the combat worked but now that I think of it it was a little elysium-like I think.

Edit:  I found it.
