Question on patrol routes
« on: June 09, 2009, 10:51:10 pm »

So, my military dwarves are complaining about long patrol routes, but they aren't patrolling. They are stationed at a spot, though. What could I do to keep them from getting angry over long patrol routes?

I'm betting they're complaining because they're on duty for so long at a time.  They'll complain less if you...

a) Give them backpacks & waterskins and tell then to carry food and water with them.
b) Take them off duty.  Remember, off duty and de-activating them are two different things.

Remember that if you give them waterskins, they won't drink booze.

Is that a bad thing?

Dwarves work slower and are unhappy when they don't get booze. I don't know how decent-quality booze stacks up against the unhappiness of being on-duty a lot, but it can't hurt.
