Winter with such low skill average it would pretty much be a death sentence to begin the game like that. Besides the goal of the game is to live, not do stupid things.

I suggest that you look for all of the three axes, a pot, a shovel and setting plenty of traps for a fur suit but first! Raid the village's farm plot.

I am terrible at hunting in this game. I usually just fish and get lucky with a stag so i have winter clothes.

Here are the stores:

Go cut down some skinny trees to make slender trunks, make a fire with the remains of one small tree, and proceed to make javelins.

Then, when we have enough, go buy some food or a woodsman's axe.

Cut them down with what?  Don't we need an axe?  How much for a cheap woodcutting axe?

We only need a cutting tool for slender trunks. The knife will work just fine.

Make javelins and buy an axe. Preferably a woodsmans axe.

Also, if you somehow muster up the resources, check to see if the stores include any fur varity clothing.
