Favourite weapon that isn't a weapon
« on: June 09, 2009, 03:39:03 am »

I really like the giant spiked balls for some reason.
What are your favourite (realistic*) improvised weapons?

*realistic means you could logically kill someone with it easily. Vomit is not a realistic weapon to throw at somebody. Also, stones, while deadly, are a bit overpowered in DF.

Rocks and wood...
i don't usually play a world with an old fort in it so no real good improvised weaponry...

but as they say, stick and stones will break your bones and words will blow you apart when thrown...

 Giant serrated goddam blades.

It's like throwing saw blades like shurikens like some lumberjack ninja. Like real ninjas, only they have the strength to throw giant serrated blades like shurikens!

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I always think of the saw blades as having a 1 metre radius, so yeah...

Maybe a half-metre radius is more reasonable...

I like to use the bodies of my victims as my weapons.

And blowing things up with small stones is a little over powered. But just a little...

I second serrated disks, especialy when made from admantine (cause otherwise my guy dies from overweight). Though the other trap components do a nice job as well.

Also, beating things to death with a live fairy is just funny.

You realise that a 1 metre tall human would be medically a dwarf?

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

He's not one meter tall. He's about 1.95 meters. Quite tall.

The dwarf is like 1.15

Eh, read "Diametre" in my brain for some reason.  Anyway, the dwarf's tangled mass of hair gives him a few extra inches.

My favourite weapon are improvised molotov cocktails (!!Dwarven Rum!! Barrels), or when those are unavailable, the old stand by, !!Sock!!. Useful for getting revenge on a potential recruit who laughs and says he would need YOUR protection. Sure you would, Mr Burning Pikeman. Sure you would.

I can never find alcohol in adventure mode.  Do I need to go to an old fort?

Yeah you can only find them at a fort and usually they're scattered all over it. Sometimes I find loose drinks in a cave, probably stolen from a nearby village, but they don't come in barrels.

I had an adventurer named Gilgamesh who killed things with the severed head of a catoblepas. That was fun. When body parts are not available, I usually use pebbles or sand, because there is little more hilarious than breaking a giant's back with a thrown handful of sand....unless it's killing a catoblepas with the head of another catoblepas.
