It seems we skipped filiusenox  and frogeyes gave up, and now we skipped Shintaro as well, so we default to my save :D.

1 Granite

Dear diary, I have been sent here to this dreadful place by direct order of the Queen. I had no choice and would rather have not come, but the order was delivered by the Hammerer himself and no one can deny anything that he wants, so here I am. My first view of this place brings back the memories of what I was told before my departure.

Hammerer: The purpose of Boltsspells is to build a gigantic lighthouse, so that our ships will not sink themselves on the rocks in the ocean.
Myself: Isn't a giant wooden lighthouse in the middle of the ocean um.... undwarflike?
Hammerer: The queen demanded that this project be constructed and we shall construct it, undwarfiness not withstanding.

Now that I'm here I also remember the slight mention of undead whales and also werewolves that the Hammerer mumbled as he left my room.

My first project will to be to expand the lighthouse itself, so that all of our supplies are not just sitting around on the beach.

My Armok protect me during my horrible year here.

2 Granite

DEAR ARMOK!!!!!!

I have been here only one day and I have discovered that all of the dwarves here have extremely mismatched jobs! Nothing is getting done. My new first project is to re-assign all dwarves so that their job combinations make sence and work well together.

16 Granite

Just our luck. Instead of good dwarven, or even unworthy human traders we get those stupid hippy tree-hugging elven traders. Oh well, maybe we can get some plants off of them for our brewery.

However, if they even mention the tons of logs lying around, I will personally feed them to the undead whales.

17 Granite

Ambush!!!!

According to the reports I have recieved there are: 1 hammergoblin, 2 pikegoblins, and 4 wrestlergoblins. Unfortunately, Asmel Tomesbust, our fisherdwarf, was the one to discover them and his survival is in question at the moment.

18 Granite

The ambush has been dealt with, Dakostemal Udsiknug Solam, our woodcutter, killed 3 wrestlergoblins and 1 pikegoblin by herself before anyone else could come to her aid. Other than a few scratches around her body and a slightly more serious wound to her head (yellow) she survived. Zon Willfulhandle, our woodworker, sustained major injuries to her right lower arm (red) when she attempted to engage a wrestlergoblin by herself.

I consider this ambush a success and am planning on using many of the immigrants, which I am hoping will come soon, to start up an official millitary for cases such as these.

24 Granite

Both sand and rock have been hit by our exploratory miner. Now we can create stonecrafts to trade and not have to use our precious wood. Also we can use the sand in future glassmaking for the lighthouse windows.

28 Granite

A snatcher has somehow been able to abduct a baby either right off her mother's back (in which case the mother will be hung out for a few days to tempt the undead whales) or has infiltrated our lighthouse and stolen her away in secrecy. Either way, an investigation is now underway and I must go inform the mother of her loss.

7 Slate

Unfortunately none of the previous rulers has set up a sanitation system, so our wounded have nothing to drink (apparently water from a lake isn't good enough...) I now order our mechanic to begin making mechanisms and our carpenters to make pump parts. I only hope we can build the sanitation system in time....

15 Slate

Sheer luck. That is the only way to explain the sudden appearance of immigrants just when we need more hands to help with the sanitation system and to start our millitary. For some reason we seem to be getting immigrants in waves of 7, but 7 is 7 more helper than we had before... we'll take them!!!

7 Felsite

Dakostemal Udsiknug Solam, our woodcutter, who is currently lying in a bed wounded, has become possesed.

9 Felsite

Our woodworker has died from thirst, and our possesed woodcutter has started work on his project, but whether he can not die from dehydration before he completes it is up for question.

8 Hematite

Luck once again was with us. Our woodcutter made "Tributetrampled" a birchen septer and during his creating, he has healed, so now he is back to cutting down the much needed trees for our lighthouse.

16 Hematite

Finally, human traders have arrived. Now we can get some much needed supplies so that we can make our lighthouse a better and more comfortable place to live.

23 Malachite

We have unloaded a buch of our crappy rock crafts to the traders in return for some meat, wood, and plants. I have put in a request for leather, wood, plants, and some more meat. I only hope that they head my requests for next time....

8 Galena

One of our fisherdwarves has come to me today and informed me that they have caught all of the fish around our lighthouse. I have ordered them to cease the fishing activity so that the fish can return. Luckily there is no chance of us starving this year.

11 Limestone

Sweet success! The sanitation system is complete and for a bonus, the dwarven traders have arrived. Now we can get some good dwarven supplies.

23 Limestone

One of our fish cleaners has withdrawn himself from society. He is demanding shells, of which we have none. I have orderd that nothing except turtle be eaten in the hope that a shell will turn up.

8 Timber

I have to report that unfortunately our fish cleaner has gone berserk. I have drafted everyone into the millitary in order to bring him down before he hurts anyone.

12 Moonstone

Curses. The cheese maker has started throwing a tantrum and has destroyed one of the bridges. I will attempt to repair it. I have ordered that the current beds be turned into temporary bedrooms to try to make the dwarves happy, but I recomend to the next ruler to set up some permanant housing.

13 Moonstone

When one of the carpenters attempted to repair the broken bridge, the cheese maker, who was sitting right next to it, decided to beat him up, so he is now unable to complete the bridge.

18 Moonstone

As soon as the cheese maker ran away from the bridge, I made one of the fisherdwarves a carpenter and he has successfully completed the bridge. Now, I just have to find some way to calm everyone down.....

24 Moonstone

Amubush!!!

Whether by luck or just coincidence, the one who was ambushed was the trouble-making cheese maker, I don't care whether he lives or dies, so this gives me time to draft everyone to combat the goblin menace.

26 Moonstone

I report that only one dwarf was lost, the cheese maker (and thank goodness for his death). As the goblins were marching toward the lighthouse, a lone recruit, the Butcher/Tanner/Leatherworker, ran out to meet them ahead of the rest of the recruits. While surrounded, he latched on the a crossbowgoblin and wouldn't let go. He strangled the life out of the goblin and the other goblins turned to flee. By this time a few more recruits had arrived and together they hunted down one more goblin before the goblins escaped. The only injury was one of the recruits getting a minor scratch on his chest, but it is anticipated to heal in a few days.

25 Obsidian

As my days here at Boltsspells comes to a close I prepare to leave. As I'm packing, one of the dwaves comes up to me. It is Dakostemal Udsiknug Solam, our woodcutter. He has asked if he can add my name to his in order to preserve the memory of my leadership here. I agree, he is now 'Samus' Dakostemal Udsiknug Solam.

My advice to the next ruler is to construct some permanant bedrooms and find some way to keep the well water in with out leaving the pump on (It kills the framerate with all the water moving around). I also suggest enlarging the stockpiles that I began in order that the dwarves don't have to always be running around outside.

1 Granite

The day has come and I say farewell to Boltsspells. I have come to love the place and I will miss it, but I know that my memory will be carried on by 'Samus' Dakostemal Udsiknug Solam

I think we should avoid exploits as much as possible unless it's needed. It's not logical for instance we can't produce normal water in a still, so we use a pump. But a bridge compactor is illegal ;P

ok, hit a snag, we have no cloth, thread, or anvil, so we can't make a chain or a rope for the well. what should be done?

Import thread cloth or anvil ;P

But a well isn't THAT needed, right? They can also just take it out of the water themselves IIRC.

I have designated one of the lakes to be a water source, but they keep saying that they don't have a water source. So if I can't get the well working soon, our legendary woodcutter and our woodworker will die of thirst.

Lakes are salty. It's ocean map after all. You need a constructer reservoir filled through a pump. Whether you build a well over it or just let the dwarves get the water directly is not that important at this moment IMHO.
