Diary entry for 16th day of Granite by Lav Okiltosid.

So far, everything seems to be going fine. We have started building a different well system at the eastern edge of the lighthouse. Ingish is busy digging trenches in order to provide an early warning and defence system, while Tulon is producing the components for the green glass pumps - we will need them later to move magma around.

The room which was previously used as a well has been renovated and will now serve as archer's range. There's enough space to install 4 archery targets according to my calculations.

What's even better, while browsing my records I found out that we have a huge supply of bones. I have tasked Bembul with producing as many bolts as he can out of them. Hopefully we'll have no shortage of ammo by the time the enemy comes again.

Another important issue are animals. I'm tired of stumbling upon the horde of the critters every time I leave my office. So I ordered to stuff them all into a cage somewhere not far from the entrance. I'm thinking about adding a lever into my office to control the cage so if the enemies breaks through the bridge I'll be able to release all our animals at once to confuse then. And to make this trap even more effective I have asked Zulban to build the kennels and train the dogs properly.

P. S. As I was writing this entry, the news reached me that some elven caravan has arrived to our outpost. They are obviously spies, only pretending to be traders. But since they pretend to be useful and willing to trade I think I'll pretend that I bought their disguise.

Granite 24th. A kobold thief has been discovered and killed in the vicinity of the bridge.

Granite 26th. I pretended to be busy and not able to meet the merchants up until now. There was a hope they will snap under psychological pressure and show their true faces even if for a second. But they must be real pro's and didn't even flinch.

Anyway, they brought us a black bear, an alligator, a horse and a fox. I think the fox is especially valuable but other dwarves are giving me weird looks when I'm trying to explain why.

Slate 14th. Some migrants have arrived!

Slate 15th. Migrants keep coming.

Slate 16th. Migrants still keep coming.

Slate 17th. Migrants STILL KEEP COMING OMFG! So far we have ten useless morons new recruits, a cook, a clothier, a bone carver (extra), a weaponsmith, a wood burner, six peasants and two children.

Slate 18th. Scruga has given birth to a girl. Good job Scruga, don't give up!

Slate 19th. Basic defensive digging has been completed. Now the enemy can only enter our section of the coastline through a limited number of entrances, and there's a chained wardog near every entrance. This is far from perfect, but should be enough to serve as an early warning system.

Slate 20th. Ingish has found the magma pipe. Excellent, now we need to tap the magma and pump it all the way to the shore.

Felsite 1st. The new well has been completed.

Felsite 13th. The tunnel to the magma pipe has been completed, I have ordered dwarves to start working on magma pumping machinery.

Felsite 18th. Looks like one of the wood haulers, of the name Amost, has been posessed. Scruga told me this when he was going near my office for a drink. I suggested to kill Amost before he can do any harm to us but Scruga explained the posession was of benevolent nature. Let's hope this is indeed the case.

Felsite 23rd. Seems Scruga was right. After several days, spent in the Craftsdwarf's Workshop, Amost suddenly emerged, holding some stupid turtle shell amulet in his hands. I tried interrogating him but he could remember nothing from the last few days. Amulet is worth at least 12,000 though so I only fined Amost for 2-day absence from job instead of 5 days.

Note to myself: the posession might have been caused by elven magic. Can we trust Amost now? Can we trust this amulet of his? Better to get rid of both at the earliest opportunity.

Hematite 1st. Summer has come. Magma tapping project is progressing rapidly, while merchant access system was unfortunately stalled. Nobody tried to attack us during spring which is strange. Does this mean the enemies are preparing a large scale offensive?

As long as you still include the werewolf mod I myself see no problem with that, since anyone else could just change over to ASCII if they preffered, unless there are any compatibility issues I am unaware of?
