More progress is being made on the fort itself. We're finishing collection of the scattered remains, and I have sent a collection party to fetch that cursed silver. Screw curses, I say we're almost ready to take on whatever morons decide to take over our project. The only morons to take on the project will be us. We were dumb to head here, we're dumb enough to live here, and defend it to the very last stone.
For added security, I've sanctioned some traps to be established for the doorway as we wait on the silver recovery. It's mediocre, but effective. We can't be too careful. On a related note, it seems there was some company within the silver mine. But thankfully, we're sufficiently skilled enough to deal with it. That beast couldn't last a few seconds with any of our miners.
A keen eye of one of our recovery teamsters has spotted a native aluminum cluster. Seeing as some of our miners aren't skilled enough to effectively remove it without destroying it. Some of the fresh veins of silver have been destroyed unfortunately, and we have to deal with it.

Ah, We seem to have a set of merchants come in. However, they seem to be traveling lightly. According to word from the liasion, our Depot is inaccessible in regards to location. Surveying the fort, it seems there are no issues in regards to this little problem. I guess the land is just too hostile for their crossing with their wagons.
We're primarily starting our trade with some garbae found around the fort before we work on the good stuff. By the way, I lack sufficient skill in appraising this crap. But I'm going to trade what we can for some booze. "Cid" was not lying about potential booze issues in his letters. And with about 70 dwarves that need drinks every hour, we need as much as we can before the seasonal crops can return and flourish.
-----------------------------
It seems I know my fair share of value in this crap. It took a quick glance of everything in the depot, ours and theirs, to give me a good idea of value. Okay then, let's trade.
It seems these traders are a cheesy kind. That's alot. But fortunately, not all. They have plenty of meats and brewables to tie us over. For a fair share of trinkets from our fort, even the crap, we can have a banquet. Fortunately, that's all we really need at the moment. We already have plenty of anvils already setup to provide use of the factory. Our primary concerns are wood, food, and booze. With our numbers and skills, we can provide for ourselves.
It's amazing the value of a silk sock and some silk trousers, even worn in ones. A bin with just a few bought a majority of our food supply. Seems to be remains of some of those damn kobolds that decided to raid us. Bad idea. They must've snuck in while the wall was still being worked on. They didn't even manage to reach the rear entry gate. Anyways, cheese is definitely on the menu. Oh, and after we finish these barrels of food off, we should have more than enough of them to keep our barrel supply up, which in turn, will spare some wood for work on the ship. We'll still need bins and beds however. At least our supplies will work out.
As a bonus, I got some raw silk materials for our clothier shops to work with, if we have any. That should develop a value cycle. As well, thanks to the compliment given for a legendary effort we hold, I'm allowing them a decent profit. In fact, we cleaned them out, and got more than enough to last us some time. Let's make this crap last. Our export may call attention to some unwanted eyes. We better finish that damn wall.
It seems Sakzul Kizestmeng (Zeallashes) has botten this... strange look upon her. The aspect of one fey. She's stopped working on the wall and knocked some dwarves over to get to a craftshop. All I've noted in my stocks missing with her mood is some orthoclase, about 3 rocks of it, and a giant cave spider chitin. I wonder what she's up to. ...It's beautiful. She calls it Aroth Tost, "The Magic of Vising", an Orthoclase idol. It's decor is of the GCS chitin, and it iw encircled with bands and adorned with spikes and rings of orthoclase. It's simply beautiful. I appraise it at 16800☼. She's so proud of herself, she's got a mythical sense of spirit. She feels she can engrave the history of our race without missing a single detail. To truly test her out, I'm sending her to work on the noble quarters.
She's working at a furious and frightening pace. It's legendary. She deserves to engrave a room of her choice, and live in it. It's the least I can do for such a spirited artist.
Our food supplies as well as booze supply is skyrocketing. So well, we have a decent selection of fine meals as well as some lavish ones for our more noteworthy dwarves. This should also be of great service to our food processing.
It looks like we've been getting much rain lately. Hopefully, the makeshift well ought to catch the necessary water for some use to be made. Then again, I could be wrong.
After trade and collection, "Cid"'s old friend has come along to thank me for providing plans for a more proper memorial for her lost friend. She couldn't believe it when she first heard it, but the confirmation has made her lose focus of work, but as well, gain closure. She can at least continue her job without worrying about her lost friend anymore. He has gone to a better place, and if I read that rotting corpse correctly, with a smile.
Speaking of which, the gateway is finished; but the wall still needs a bit more work yet, but not much. I might as well issue orders to take out the remaining rampways up to the common grounds and wall it off soon. Fortunately, according to word of our fetchers, safter we got the floodgates up, nobody could find any way into the fort. We still lack some walls, but we are effectively secure. We can begin our future development plans for tree farms, and get some work done on the ship itself.
Glassmaking is on a hold, but the ash will not go to waste. It's being used to feed everyone inside until the next caravan passes by. We hope that by then, we shall be ready for wagons. We may have to remove our wagon in order to make room, but that doesn't make much sense. Oh well. We'll think of something.
The season is drawing close to an end. I'm going to end my report here.
