Decent bump plus another update
****
5th Malachite

We finally have what I need! Aligator wandered in one of our traps. Now we have our automaton! Plus I begun works on indoor artificial brook as a water source. I am most satisfied, as my plans proceed smoothly and soon we will have source of water even should we run out of booze (terryfying possibility!)

16th Malachite

Yes! It works! We do don't have to fear thirst anmore! Plus we have nice indoor fishing spot for case hunger would threaten our home. But right now I think that farming can keep us alive long enough. I start to put automatic spikes into action!

24 th Malachite

Today, I decided I'll teach Sausage the fine art of mechanics. Not only will it enlighten his mind, but it will also allow our works to continue faster as my trap requires lot of manual engineering. As soon as everything is linked we will launch it. This news made userpay so happy he threw a party in our dining room. All miner immediately stopped working and went partying.

3rd Galena

Works on autospike continues. Meanwhile, I decided that webadict will make better bookeeper tham myself and I planned an office for him. I will use antechamber of lordcoopers ridiculous quarters for that. Also, I will move my own ofice there as an elected leader of fortress.

10th Galena

I don't feel safe in my bed. I had two statues built near it. I feel safer that way.

11th Limestone

Works are proceeding smoothly, but I can't get rid of that feeling of imminent danger. They are trying to get me. To finish what they started back home. I know it. I KNOW IT!

8th Sandstone

Things are very quiet now. And there are no obstructions. I do not like it. It makes me think something very bad is going to happen. Soon. They will come. They will kill us! They will kill us all! We found many gems, but I now it's only a bait. A bait to keep us off guard as they sneak on us!

7th Timber

Automatic spike trap is ready to be made into motion. I secure the area personally, for case something bad happens. And, by the way, DO NOT TOUCH THAT LEVER ON WHITE SAND AREA NEAR STAIRS!

17th Timber

It didn't work excactly as I imagined it would, so I work on upgrade (i.e. I'm trying to make it work). I must make it work before THEY come.

26th Timber

I doubled my training with crossbow. It will come in handy, as they WILL come. Others think I'm just paranoid, but they know nothing. They are COMING. They are coming to KILL US ALL!

9th Moonstone

Great. Jakkara let the alligator run away. Now, we do not have an automaton. I came screaming at him he'll get us all killed. He looked a bit puzzled, so I explained to him about THEM. He didn't say anything, but he looked on me in a strange way.
*******
Now, I have only winter left, but I have some issues right now. Expect final update and save around thursday.

On a more serious note, where the hell are the orcs?
I dunno, They didn't show up in summer (probably because Elves were so nice they left some of their stuff behind free of charge) and they didn't show up yet. But it's good, as now I can't tur on the automatic spikes. Oh, and btw, I'm first to become marksdwarf.
EDIT: They came now.

Final update and save!
******
13th Moonstone

Jakkara and webadict were just kicking their asses lazily, so I sent them to train with crossbow. We will need every availiable hand should THEY come. And THEY WILL. I KNOW IT! I only feel really safe in my room.
THEY ARE HERE!!!! I KNEW IT!! The pointy-eared pricks must have given us away! It's their fault!

Fortunately, none of them possesses ranged weapons. And one of them is completely naked. Disturbing sight.
Webadict is the first to reach his position and starts to shoot at THEM mercilessly.
Now, we are all at positions, with the oxception of lourdecooper who went for a drink.

Jakkara shoot one of the orcs in chest winding him! Hail Jakkara! And Sausage finished him. More of those green buggers are getting their chests and limbs hit.
Two down, one winded. But there's a lot of them. More than of us. Another down! Area north of the fortress is red with orcish blood. Die, bastards!

Another three are down and four others are wounded. Taste our bolts, greenskin!

18th Moonstone

YES! Victory! After loosing more than half of their kindred greenskin fled! We were victorious! Well, mostly fled. One had to crawl away.

23rd Moonstone

I asked Webadict to make a list of what we got from Dead greenskin. Turns out we have several sets of iron armour (larger than dwarf size), several iron swords (dwarf useable) and about the same nuber of iron shields (dwarf useable). We will melt down the armour and forge it into something useful.

6th Opal

We were counting killed enemies today and it turns out we slew about nine orcs! Four were slain by Webadict, three by myself and two by sausage. Webadict is now the official orcslayer. And the runaway alligator was stupid enough to let himself caught again! Joy! Here is the depictation of all slain left to rot on garbage pile.

15th Opal

Booze is out. We have no more. I ordered something brewed ASAP.

27th Opal

Today it's the second atempt for launching autospikes. Hope noone will screw it up.
Great. Just fucking great. Userpay let that alligator outof cage and not only did he let it run. He killed it. We need another one. Well, at least we will have some meat. I hope it will taste good.

22nd Obsidian

I continue my training at shooting range. I was burdening my mind with question of rewarding Webadict, our orcslayer. But now, I have it!

1st Granite, year 3 a.b.

Today, I came to Webadict and told him that I entrust him with leading us all as a reward for his bravery in battle. I can now rest easier that the burden of leadership doesn't lie so heavily on my sholders. I can finally get some rest.
********
So, I think that the fortress is in pretty good shape, noone is dead, we have plenty of orcish junk for melting and enough bones to train through hell. We have mainly plants, so someone could consider sending a hunter out as there are mostly slugmen out there (there was an alligator, but no more).
Here be teh save!

Sandiego?

build the cage next to the place where you want the 'gator. THEN drag it from there to the exact spot you need, theres less chance of it buggering off then.

I have the animal stockpile RIGHT NEXT TO the pit I want the 'gator to be pushed in. I can't get it any closer you know.

well, technically, you COULD ramp down to the place, build the cage, bugger off and then lever the cage open? it would leave a cage down there, and make it look a little untidy, but its the safest way.

totally undwarven and efficient though.

Journal Entry - Granite 3 A.B.
Spectacular! I seem to have won the Dwarven lottery (which is a lot easier now with only seven people!) Today, I was chosen to be the next leader, because I had managed to kill a few more of those orcs than anyone else! It's a good thing he didn't ask me how—I didn't have my eyes open when I shot :/.

Luckily, I'm just spouting with good ideas! First, I'm gonna have a look at this fortress.

There's a couple of levers in here with little notes on them. Maybe I'll pull them later to find out what they do...

We've got plenty of food and drink for now. That's good. But, I don't like how we have no trader! I mean, how will we trade with the... Elves! I'll try and fix that.

Secondly, we have two animals. A dog and a cat. They can't have kittens or puppies (Or can they... Find out later from lourdecooper.)

Anyhow, yeah, I think I'll work on our trade and production. The Elves should be here soon, but I will try to make sure we have some trade next year.

Also on the list is to stop mining. We need people to start up our glass production and cloth production. Heck, we're just gonna be producing all year! That's my to-do list! Produce and trade!

*The rest of the entry goes on about Elves*
