Theyve had it in games for quite a while now. Halo 2 and 3 definatly had it, and i think halo 1 too.

I'm pretty sure TF2 was supposed to have it, back when it was first announced.

Some highlights:

MMORPG.com: We saw a mission start for criminals that involved tagging six locations. Were those randomly generated?

Dave Jones: Yes, they are generated by the mission dynamically. So you have no idea where, because we have other groups doing those missions. So we had to create a system whereby tag points are set up for different groups of players.

MMORPG.com: How crazy does that get?

Dave Jones: Well, we were looking at 4 vs 4. However, one of the sides can call for backup and the system decides if they are a little underpowered for that, so the criminals will pull in a bunch more people. Then the enforcers will get the call too. I like the idea of "We need backup!" and very quickly it can escalate. 20 vs 20 are tremendous experiences.

MMORPG.com: So, is it safe to say that this game is 99% PvP content?

Dave Jones: 90% pure player content rather than PvP. So, for example, Chris (who was playing an enforcer) could have witnessed me. We have a witnessing thing in there. He could have witnessed me do a crime, and maybe he doesn’t like me. He could follow me around and press the “witness key” every time I commit a crime, and his prestige is going up -- in effect that is what the system does. Then that offers a match between those two players and he puts an APB out on me. So, as an enforcer, you can be like a cop and keep an eye on one criminal you really want to catch. As a criminal, you have to be careful because you don’t know when that APB is going to come. So you could be committing a crime and “Bam!”: APB on you! So that creates a deathmatch between those two players, which turns into a mission.

This game seems really interesting and I just got the beta key from Fileplanet to test it tonight. I started making an account to download it. Then I hit a major snag. The account creation page has every other Scandinavian country listed but Finland, without any notice why this might be and choosing a country is required to sign-up. Also, to reach the support pages, one has to have an account. Nice Catch-22.

At least there was a support e-mail listed in Contact links. Though I'm fairly sure they won't answer and/or fix this in under 7 hours as the Easter holidays are going on. Bleh. No APB for me.

I had that yesterday too, along with the launcher opening and closing sporadically. It seems to work much better now.
