What bothers me is that visually, it's not Cops and Robbers.  It's Gangstas and Good Gangstas.  Even the cops wear hockey masks and hoodies.

Yeah, they do hear it. You point your mp3 library to the game and pick songs from there. If you don't have the song the guy is playing, the game looks on last.fm for the closest song you have and plays it. Watch the last podcast I've posted, they mention you can upgrade your car's sound as well. They sort of implied voice chat might work the same way. As in you hear the voice chat if the guy is close or perhaps over team radio. Would be interesting to be able to spy on people's voice chat.

APB comes with a lot of indie music, plus you can create sound tracks with the game's built in tracker if you're musically inclined (I will be having lots of fun composing music and selling it in game). You can point your mp3 folder to the game and it will pick up music from there as well.

But nope, other than the sound tracks made with the game's tracker, it doesn't stream music around, instead it picks the closest music you have to match whatever someone else is listening in his car. Of course, if you have the song, it plays it.

At least that's my understanding from the podcasts.

And really go watch it. =p The last two are about the music system.

It uses last.fm ... I've said this a lot already... Nobody listens. xD

Last.fm uses musicbrainzid, which is a combination of song length, artist, song name, hash id, etc etc etc.

Of course, last.fm accepts queries with simple artist/song instead of a musicbrainzid, so if they are use artist/song, you can spoof it.
