You've given me a glimmer of hope.  Now I'm going to try it again, and when it fails I will be crushed again.

There was a significant number of uninstalls, restarts and reinstalls to different folders (the game doesn't like the letter "ä") involved yesterday. Also, closing the program made it forget all progress and generally break down. I  gave up when it started just counting time and not downloading anything. Somehow all this made it work as intended today, even to the point that it started downloading where it left off last time.

So keep trying! There's still few days 'til Sunday!

All of the beta groups have been merged, so if you have any friends playing in another testing group, you should be able to play with them now.

In my opinion, the driving controls are very awkward if you're using a keyboard and the hitboxes on people can be a bit dodgy sometimes, but overall it's a solid experience. If you have friends to play with, it's very fun and not grindy at all.

And the customisation is top notch. I spent ages making my character look as badass as possible.

Ahahaha.  After a little over a day's worth of downloading of working, my download crapped out again.  At the <1 minute to finished mark.

Thanks to a nice forum member, I got in the EU beta. Which means I will be mister lag in the game.

Damn slow downloads... It's going at 30kb/s ... Over 2 days remaining.
